HSQE Manager - Verdalia Bioenergy Verdalia Bioenergy is looking for an HSQE Manager to lead Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental management across our Spanish operations. We are a fast-growing start-up focused on developing large-scale biomethane projects, with a clear mission to drive the energy transition. This is a strategic role with cross-functional impact across construction, operations, permitting, and corporate teams, ideal for someone with a strong technical background and experience in demanding industrial environments. Conditions • Permanent contract, • Hybrid model: 1 day of remote work per week, • Working hours: Monday to Thursday: 9:30 am – 6:30 pm | Fridays: 9:30 am – 14:30 pm, • Location: Hortaleza, Madrid Mission of the role Ensure full compliance in Health, Safety, and Environmental matters across Verdalia’s assets in Spain, fostering a strong preventive culture and high environmental standards in both construction and operational phases. You will act as the HSE technical reference in Spain, covering regulatory compliance, management systems, and operational performance. Key responsibilities Health & Safety (OHS): • Ensure compliance with Spanish occupational risk prevention regulations and ISO 45001 standards, • Oversee risk assessments, safety procedures, and coordination with contractors, • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis, • Define and monitor HSE KPIs (LTIFR, TRIR, etc.), • Ensure proper documentation and legal traceability, • Environmental Management:, • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and support permitting processes (EIA, IPPC, etc.), • Manage waste, emissions, discharges, and environmental reporting, • Act as liaison with regulatory authorities, • Handle environmental incidents and non-conformities, • Provide technical support in new developments and due diligence processes, • Systems & continuous improvement, • Lead and improve ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, • Coordinate internal and external audits, • Implement corporate HSE frameworks across Spanish projects, • Contribute to ESG and sustainability reporting, • Collaborate with consultants, certification bodies, and authorities, • Promote a strong safety culture and operational sustainability Profile • University degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or similar, • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar roles, • Certified Senior Occupational Risk Prevention Technician (mandatory in Spain), • Experience in complex industrial environments (energy, renewables, oil & gas, chemical, waste-to-energy), • Strong knowledge of Spanish environmental regulations, • Experience in construction and commissioning phases, • Ability to interact with authorities and contractors, • Fluent in Spanish and professional level of English, • Availability to travel nationally Skills • Attention to detail, • Strong influencing skills, • Autonomy and proactivity, • Adaptability What we offer: • Strategic role with real business impact, • Dynamic, fast-growing environment, • Mission-driven project contributing to the energy transition, • High visibility and cross-functional exposure, • Autonomy and ownership
