Turbomachinery CAD Designer (Diseñador Proyectista) Indefinite Full time Hybrid (08040, Barcelona, Spain) Mechanical About Pangea Propulsion: We are a company dedicated to developing advanced propulsion systems for the space industry based on three key principles: high efficiency, sustainability, and reusability. We are revolutionizing the space industry with ground breaking innovations that allows us to offer the best performance to cost propulsion systems. Our goal is to be the propulsion provider for the next-generation of spacecraft, which are essential to meet the demands and compete in the booming space market of the next decade. We are a passionate, multicultural, and multidisciplinary team pushing the boundaries of what it is possible in space propulsion technology. We have already made history by successfully testing the world's first 3D printed Methalox Aerospike engine, marking a significant milestone for the space industry. We are looking for talented professionals to join our international team in Barcelona and Toulouse. We want to be key player in improving diversity in Aerospace sector as, in Pangea, we believe that diversity (gender, age, race, sexual orientation, beliefs, disability, culture, etc.) is a key to success. Within Pangea, everyone can grow with the same opportunities. We encourage you to apply. Individually we are different, but together we are an amazing team! We are looking for a Turbomachinery Mechanical Designer in Barcelona. About the role This role will have you directly impacting the design and development of Pangea’s turbopumps and advanced rocket engines by transforming concepts and preliminary designs into production-ready CAD and drawings. You will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and releasing detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, GD&T, and tolerance analyses for components and assemblies operating in extreme conditions, ensuring manufacturability and robust configuration control. The position offers and requires rigor, ownership, and attention to detail. You will collaborate daily with mechanical design engineers, analysis, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to define drawing requirements, anticipate manufacturing constraints, and ensure hardware is released with the right level of definition for inspection and assembly. Key Responsibilities Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models and complex assemblies for turbopump components (pumps, turbines, housings, impellers, shafts, seals, bearings, manifolds, etc.). Produce, review, and release manufacturing drawings (2D) including notes, surface finish, heat treatments, coatings, and inspection requirements in compliance with ISO GPS / GD&T. Perform and document tolerance stack-ups, fits/clearances, and interface control to ensure assembly feasibility and functional performance. Support design engineers by providing DfM/DfA feedback (machining, additive manufacturing, EDM, grinding, balancing, brazing/welding) and proposing drawing/cad changes to reduce cost and lead time. Manage drawing maturity through the release cycle in the PLM (e.g., Teamcenter): part numbers, revisions, EBOM structure, and engineering change documentation. Collaborate with suppliers, internal manufacturing, and quality to clarify requirements, answer RFIs, and ensure drawings enable effective inspection (CMM, metrology) and acceptance. Maintain and improve drawing practices, templates, and checking routines; participate in design reviews as the drawing/GD&T focal point for turbomachinery hardware. What you need to be successful Educational Background: Technical degree (FP/TS) or equivalent experience in mechanical design, product design, industrial drafting, or similar. Engineering degree is not required. Experience: 5+ years of experience producing and releasing detailed drawings for precision mechanical parts (aerospace, turbomachinery, automotive, energy, or other high-performance/regulated industries). Technical Proficiency: Advanced user of CAD (Siemens NX preferred) with strong skills in detail design, large assemblies, and drawing production. Comfortable with PLM/PDM tools (Teamcenter preferred): revision control, release workflows, and change management. Strong command of ISO GPS / GD&T, datum systems, and creation of clear, inspection-ready manufacturing drawings. Ability to perform tolerance analyses/stack-ups, define fits and clearances, and manage critical interfaces. Good understanding of manufacturing processes and constraints (CNC machining, turning/milling, EDM, grinding, additive manufacturing) and DfM/DfA best practices. Working proficiency in English (Spanish and French are a plus). Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, pride in producing clean, unambiguous drawings, and a quality-first mindset. Structured problem-solving and ability to challenge requirements constructively (tolerances, materials, finishes, accessibility). Autonomy in managing multiple parts/drawings, prioritizing releases, and meeting short hardware lead times. Clear communication and collaboration with design, manufacturing, suppliers, and quality in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. Other desired competencies Relevant Certifications/Training: Formal training in GD&T / ISO GPS, metrology, or mechanical drafting (certifications are a plus). Industry Experience: Experience detailing rotating equipment and/or high-precision components (turbomachinery, aerospace, motorsport, energy) and working directly with machine shops and inspectors. Specialized Expertise Experience with inspection and metrology (CMM, GD&T interpretation, first article inspection, nonconformities). Experience creating assembly drawings, exploded views, and clear work instructions for integration and test. Hands-on understanding of fits for bearings/seals, runout/concentricity, and balance-related requirements (nice to have). Familiarity with materials, heat treatments, coatings and surface finish specifications commonly used in high-performance turbomachinery. Previous experience in aerospace standards, configuration control and traceability for flight or test hardware (nice to have). Not hitting every requirement? Research suggests that some people tend to hesitate when it comes to job applications if they don't meet all the desired qualifications. Here at Pangea Aerospace, we're committed to fostering a workplace that values diversity, inclusivity, and authenticity. So, if you're enthusiastic about this role but your prior experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification mentioned in the job description, we still strongly encourage you to apply.
