ppWe are looking for a bPostdoctoral /b bresearcher in gas emission monitoring, modelling and mitigation strategies /bto join the bSustainability in Biosystems Program /bteam, based in bTorre Marimon (Caldes de Montbui). /b We offer the opportunity to be part of an organization with a dynamic, collaborative work environment focused on professional development. /p pThe selected candidate will join the Monitoring Research Line and will contribute to cutting-edge research in circular and sustainable agriculture, with a specific focus on monitoring and modelling of greenhouse gas emissions. The selected candidate will contribute directly to IRTA's strategic scientific challenges, especially in terms of improving sustainability of the agrifood sector, and address broader sustainability goals in Catalunya and beyond, under current climatic and resource constraints. /p h3Tasks and Responsibilities: /h3 ul liLead the research activities within the framework of the LIFE Odyssey project Odour and greenhouse gas mitigation through smart systems for emissions control in wastewater treatment plants. /li liParticipate in leading and conduct research on monitoring, assessment and modelling of gas emissions, including greenhouse gases, ammonia, and other gaseous pollutants, across the agri-food sector and other relevant environmental systems (i.e. wastewater treatment plants). /li liEvaluate, develop and implement mitigation and abatement strategies to reduce gaseous emissions in agricultural systems, including livestock housing, manure management and processing facilities, and crop fields. /li liContribute to the supervision of junior researchers, PhD candidates and technical staff involved in experimental, modelling and data analysis activities. /li liSupport the identification of future research opportunities and contribute scientifically to new project ideas under the supervision of senior researchers. /li /ul h3Required qualifications and experience /h3 ul liPhD in Agronomy, Environmental sciences, Soil science, Chemical Engineering, or related field. /li liPractical experience on gas measurement equipment operation and sampling procedures in different environmental contexts. /li liExperience in designing and conducting field, pilot and/or laboratory experiments, particularly related to emission monitoring and environmental impacts of agricultural, livestock and manure management practices. /li liStrong knowledge of greenhouse gas and ammonia emission quantification methodologies, including IPCC guidelines and modelling approaches for agricultural systems (livestock production, manure management and treatment, crop production, etc.), with experience in models such as DAYCENT, DAISY, ANCA, ANIPRO, Biomethane Tracer, and UNICO. /li liAbility to work in interdisciplinary teams and communicate results to both scientific and practical stakeholders. /li liRelevant publication record, particularly in the area of emission monitoring and modelling. /li liAdvanced knowledge of English. /li liStrong teamwork skills, ability to adapt to multidisciplinary environments and a focus on professional growth and development. /li liFamiliarity with Mediterranean agricultural systems, circular agriculture and sustainability issues. /li liKnowledge of best available technologies (BAT) and their application within agricultural and livestock production systems to improve environmental performance and resource efficiency. /li liKnowledge on Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) frameworks for greenhouse gas and ammonia emissions in integrated crop-livestock systems, integrating emission measurement technologies, data acquisition platforms, process-based models, remote sensing, and life cycle assessment (LCA) approaches to support environmental monitoring, emissions quantification and verification, and climate mitigation strategies. /li liExperience or knowledge in the application of remote sensing technologies for environmental and emissions monitoring /li liExperience with atmospheric dispersion models or emission estimation tools such as WindTrax. /li liKnowledge of statistical analytical
