As the head of SAIC Motor's ESG strategy for its European operations, you will be responsible for building and continuously optimizing the ESG governance system for the European region from scratch. Against the backdrop of profound changes to the EU's ESG regulatory framework, this role requires ensuring that SAIC Motor's European operations (including overseas marketing and manufacturing business expansion) fully comply with the regulatory requirements of the countries in the target markets, while integrating ESG into the business strategy, fostering a responsible corporate brand image, and translating compliance constraints into business competitiveness and brand equity. Reporting Relationship: This position reports to the Head of Europe Region and the Head of ESG at China headquarters. Work Location: London, United Kingdom or Galicia region, Spain Job Responsibilities: • Led the formulation of the medium- and long-term ESG strategic plan and annual work plan for the European region, and established the XFN collaboration mechanism and ESG risk control process. Built and continuously optimized the Localization ESG governance system from scratch to ensure that the governance structure, decision-making process, risk identification and emergency response mechanism cover all business scenarios., • Systematically track and study the core EU ESG regulatory framework and ensure business compliance with it, with key coverage of: CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards), CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism), EU Taxonomy, the new EU Battery Regulation (including requirements for the Battery Passport), and CSDDD (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive); assess the potential impact of policy trends on the Group's European operations, and provide professional compliance support and response strategy recommendations for business decision-making., • Establish a local European mechanism for ESG data collection, accounting and auditing, and take the lead in compiling and publishing annual sustainability reports that meet the requirements of the CSRD/ESRS. Be responsible for the implementation of the Double Materiality Assessment to ensure data quality, report transparency and compliance with third-party assurance., • Coordinate the response to the assessment processes of leading international rating agencies including MSCI, CDP, EcoVadis and Sustainalytics. Formulate and drive the implementation of special plans for rating improvement, continuously optimize the Group's ESG performance in European Capital Markets, and enhance brand influence and investment attractiveness., • Responsible for the full-scope carbon footprint accounting (Scope 1/2/3) of European business operations, and establish a data system based on the GHG Protocol standards. Develop a Carbon neutrality roadmap compliant with SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative), and promote the implementation of energy efficiency improvement, Renewable Energy application and supply chain emission reduction projects., • Take charge of ESG audits and tiered management of European and global suppliers, with key coverage including: supplier ESG access audits and ongoing oversight, compliance management of Conflict Minerals, full-lifecycle traceability requirements for batteries such as Battery Passport, due diligence on human rights and labor rights in the supply chain, and driving the continuous improvement of suppliers' ESG capabilities and performance., • As the primary interface for external ESG communication in the European region, maintain efficient communication with investors, regulators, customers, industry associations, NGOs and the media. Lead the ESG brand narrative, participate in the formulation of industry standards, and build ESG into a differentiated competitive advantage for the Group in the European market., • Establish and lead the European ESG specialist team (including local recruitment and remote collaboration), and work closely with departments at headquarters such as finance, legal, supply chain, marketing and human resources to systematically embed ESG requirements into business processes, KPI assessment and business decision-making. Requirements for the position: • Master's degree or above, with a major in Environmental Science, Sustainable Development, Energy Management, Public Policy, Law or other related fields., • Candidates with professional certifications such as CFA ESG, ISO14064, and GRI are preferred., • Have over 8 years of working experience in ESG-related fields, at least 3 years of team management experience, be familiar with the European automotive industry Value Chain and local ecosystem, and those with hands-on ESG experience in the automotive industry or high-end manufacturing are preferred., • Has end-to-end experience in building an ESG governance system from scratch, proficient in the EU ESG regulatory framework (including CSRD, CBAM, EU Taxonomy, ESRS, etc.), familiar with international reporting standards such as GRI, ISSB and TCFD, and possesses solid practical capabilities in carbon accounting (GHG Protocol Scope 1/2/3)., • Has extensive experience in supply chain ESG management and due diligence, with a proven track record of improving ESG ratings., • Good command of English as a working language, excellent written reporting skills, and the ability to independently communicate in English with international institutions, regulators and rating agencies. Proficiency in any major European language such as German, French or Spainish is preferred., • Possess excellent cross-cultural communication skills and influence, strategic thinking and business acumen, as well as outstanding capabilities in project management and change driving.
