The company There are companies that build airplanes. And then there’s Daher. At Daher, they don’t just manufacture: they design, certify, and refine. For over 160 years, the group has built a culture of ingenuity and high standards that today enables it to thrive in a market as unique as it is demanding: that of light and high-performance aviation. The TBM, the flagship of the range, is one of the fastest single-engine turboprops in the world. Each year, around 60 aircraft roll out of the Tarbes workshops before being delivered—mostly—to a demanding American clientele. And everything that leaves Tarbes carries the Daher name to the other side of the world. It is within this context that the flight test team operates: thirteen people who collectively bear the responsibility of validating, certifying, and improving each aircraft before it takes its first commercial flight. To support its ongoing research and development programs and strengthen this team, Daher is recruiting a: Flight Test Engineer Permanent Position based in Tarbes, France The Role You will be at the heart of the flight test program, with full responsibility for preparing, conducting, and analyzing the tests, while actively participating in technical decision-making. Your work revolves around three key areas: ✦ Research & Development : You will be involved from the early stages of the design phases (PDR, CDR) alongside the design office. You define test programs and instrumentation requirements (sensors, cameras, measurements), and conduct risk analyses (FTRM). In flight, you oversee the test sequence in close collaboration with the pilots, manage unforeseen events, and then analyze and document the results in test and certification reports. ✦ Production Every new aircraft passes through your hands: you conduct validation flights (at least 3 per aircraft), test all systems, and ensure compliance with certified standards. ✦ MRO (Maintenance) You inspect aircraft upon completion of maintenance to verify their proper functioning before returning to the customer. What makes this role rewarding: • You are not limited to an executor role: you co-design the tests with the technical teams and contribute to decision-making., • You work both in the air and on the ground: writing, analysis, and coordination are integral parts of your role., • You work in a small team where every contribution is visible, and where trust between engineers and pilots is essential to operations., • You will be joining a rapidly evolving environment: team rebuilding and process improvement., • Regular interactions with the design office, airworthiness teams, and regulatory authorities (EASA), as well as occasional travel (to the United States and for specific projects), round out the scope of the role. Profile • You are a seasoned flight test engineer and already have you FAA- OR EASA-approved certification., • Your expertise in regulatory frameworks (CS-23, CS-25, Part 21) enables you to navigate certification processes with ease., • Your experience in drafting test programs and analyzing data allows you to design reliable and actionable test campaigns., • Your experience with test flights enables you to communicate effectively with the pilot and manage complex operational situations., • Your ability to thrive in unstructured environments enables you to take initiative and adapt quickly., • If you already speak some French, it would be great!
