We are seeking a talented and experienced Indian Chef to join our dynamic culinary team in a South Indian restaurant based in Bexley, Kent. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality Indian dishes, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional dining experiences. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with menu specifications and quality standards
  • Preparing starters, curries and Hyderabad Dum biryanis (vegetarian and non-vegetarian)
  • Supervise and manage kitchen staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols
  • Oversee food production processes, maintaining consistency and presentation excellence
  • Manage food safety procedures, including hygiene standards and proper storage practices
  • Assist in menu planning and development to introduce innovative culinary options
  • Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and minimise waste to optimise kitchen operations
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment
  • Serve dishes to customers when necessary, ensuring excellent customer service
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, complying with health and safety regulations

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a professional Indian kitchen environment, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality setting
  • Strong culinary skills with a comprehensive understanding of food preparation and cooking techniques
  • Supervising experience with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Leadership qualities with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
  • Experience in food production, restaurant operations, and serving customers is highly desirable
  • A passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences and maintaining high standards of quality
