Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join our educational team. The ideal candidates will play a crucial role in maintaining a positive learning environment by supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher. This position requires effective communication skills, the ability to engage with students, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive atmosphere for all learners, including those with autism and special educational needs.
Responsibilities
Supervise and manage classroom activities in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students remain engaged and focused on their work.
Communicate effectively with students to provide guidance and support, helping them understand lesson objectives and tasks.
Educate students on classroom rules and expectations while promoting respect and cooperation among peers.
Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs, ensuring their specific requirements are met.
Mentor and support students, particularly those who may require additional assistance or encouragement.
Facilitate tutoring sessions as needed to help students grasp challenging concepts or improve their academic performance.
Employ creative writing techniques to inspire students’ interest in literacy and self-expression.
Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment, addressing any behavioural issues promptly and appropriately.
Qualifications
Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is essential.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students of varying abilities.
Experience or training in working with children on the autism spectrum or those with special educational needs is highly desirable.
A background in mentoring or tutoring would be advantageous.
Creative writing skills are beneficial for encouraging student engagement in literacy activities.
A patient, approachable demeanour with a passion for education and helping others succeed.
