The Role
We are looking for an experienced House Manager to take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of a private family home in Battersea.
For the first three months, the position will deliberately involve a significant amount of hands-on housekeeping. This is so that you can learn the home, understand the family’s standards, establish routines and demonstrate that you can maintain them efficiently.
After this initial period, the role should develop into genuine household management.
We are looking for someone who can increasingly notice what needs doing, decide what should happen next, organise it and deal with it without waiting to be instructed.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Maintaining the home to a consistently high standard
- Cleaning and household presentation
- Laundry, ironing and steaming
- Caring for delicate and specialist clothing
- Stain treatment
- Wardrobe organisation
- Changing and managing bed linen
- Household stock control
- Managing recurring household orders
- Ocado, Amazon and other household ordering
- Cooking and food preparation
- Organising the child’s clothes and belongings
- Packing for the child
- Packing and unpacking for the family
- Managing deliveries and returns
- Arranging dry cleaning
- Booking and managing household maintenance
- Washing/dryer, dishwasher, fridge/freezer maintenance
- Liaising with contractors and tradespeople
- Providing access to the home for contractors when required
- Household errands
- Maintaining inventories
- Helping manage household appointments and routines
- Identifying problems before they become larger problems
