Yard Sale Pizza are on the search for an experienced Senior Head Pizza Chef who is a collaborative team leader with excellent pizza making skills to join our amazing team! Who are we? Yard Sale Pizza fired up the oven in 2014, starting with weekly supper clubs from our backyard in Hackney. We now offer delivery, dine-in and takeaway in 12 of our favourite neighbourhoods. Known for our collaborations, we’ve teamed up with illustrators, musicians, international chefs & local eateries- all on the quest for the perfect pie! We’ve won London’s most-loved restaurant in Time Out’s 2016 Love London awards, were awarded Best Cheap Eats in the Observer Food Monthly Awards in 2017, and were voted London’s favourite pizza in Time Out’s inaugural Clash of the Slices in 2022. What will I be doing? - Leading and mentoring a hard working team of chefs in a busy environment. - You'll report to our Kitchen Operations Manager and General Manager and you will be responsible to run all areas of the kitchen on site. - Ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen whilst keeping a positive working environment for the team! - You’ll be responsible for overseeing and providing excellent pizza quality, kitchen speed and service. - Training and maintaining a competent chef team - providing regular appraisals and keeping the team engaged. - Ensuring that you hit successful GP and portioning figures. - Maintaining 5* Food Hygiene standards. - You’ll be responsible for your team's rota in alignment with budgeted staff costs. - Stock ordering and rotation. What are we looking for? - Someone with masterclass Pizza-making skills with a real passion for pizza! - Someone who is highly skilled in making Neapolitan-style pizza, making and stretching dough and baking in a stone-based marana oven. - A Head Chef who has previous experience leading and developing a team who enjoys collaboration and has excellent communication skills. - Someone who has first-class organisation skills and attention to detail. - Someone with good knowledge of risk assessments, food safety and hygiene within a commercial kitchen. Our seafood dishes are the star of the show, and we’re passionate about delivering food that’s as fun as it is delicious. We’re on the hunt for a talented Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and help us take things to the next level. What You’ll Be Doing: Leading the Kitchen: You’ll work closely with the Head Chef to keep the kitchen running smoothly and step up to lead when needed. Cooking Up Greatness: Get hands-on with preparing and plating our dishes to the highest standard. You'll also have the chance to contribute ideas for specials and menu tweaks. Supporting the Team: Be a mentor for the kitchen team, training and motivating them to deliver their best work. Keeping Things in Check: Help manage stock, control costs, and make sure we’re keeping waste to a minimum. Staying on Top of Standards: Maintain a clean and safe kitchen that meets all health and safety regulations—because nothing less will do. What We’re Looking For: - Experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role, ideally in a fast-paced kitchen. - A solid understanding of seafood (bonus points if you’ve worked with it before, but not essential). - Leadership skills—you’re confident leading a team and keeping things calm under pressure. - A passion for great food and attention to detail. - Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
