Reports To: Senior Support Worker / Manager
Location: Romford, Barking & Dagenham
Salary: 28,080
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time
Job Summary
A Residential Support Worker provides care and support to individuals living in residential settings, such as children, young people, adults with disabilities, or vulnerable individuals. They help residents develop independence, ensure their well-being, and promote a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day emotional and practical support to residents.
  • Assist with personal care, daily routines, and household tasks as needed.
  • Support individuals in developing life skills, including cooking, budgeting, and hygiene.
  • Promote independence while ensuring residents’ safety and well-being.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, and other professionals.
  • Respond to challenging behaviors using de-escalation techniques and person-centered approaches.
  • Administer medication (if trained and authorized).
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on residents’ progress and incidents.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and development sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and safeguarding policies.
  • Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in social care, residential care, or a similar role (preferred).
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A valid driver’s license (may be required, depending on the role).
  • Enhanced DBS check (required).
  • Desirable Attributes
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, mental health needs, or behavioral challenges.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • First Aid and Medication Administration training (or willingness to train).
