The Transport Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating transportation operations, ensuring efficient delivery services, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. The role involves performing clerical and logistical functions to support the smooth transport and distribution of goods and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Process customer orders and ensure accurate forwarding of requisition details to storage and distribution teams.
- Prepare and maintain import/export documentation for the movement of goods, ensuring compliance with customs requirements.
- Develop delivery loads and formulate efficient vehicle schedules and routes to optimize transportation services.
- Coordinate and assign drivers to specific routes, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to schedules.
- Monitor driver tachograph readings, maintain records of hours worked, and track distances traveled to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance schedules, coordinate repairs, and ensure all vehicles meet operational standards.
- Handle inquiries, bookings, and concerns from customers in a professional and customer-focused manner.
- Provide updates on transportation activities and address customer concerns promptly.
- Maintain detailed records of freight movement, vehicle locations, and staff assignments.
- Prepare reports on transportation activities, including driver performance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar role within transportation, distribution, or logistics.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and generating detailed reports.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Familiarity with scheduling software or transportation management systems is desirable.
