Bar Worker – The Exchange Location: The Exchange, Barking Riverside Pay: £13 per hour Contract Type: Zero-Hours (Ad Hoc, Event-Based) Hours: Evenings & weekends, depending on bookings and private hires About The Exchange The Exchange is a vibrant community venue in Barking Riverside, hosting live music, private events, workshops, and weekly social nights. We’re a welcoming, creative space that values great service, positive energy, and connection with the local community. Role Overview We are looking for friendly, reliable Bar Workers to join our casual events team. This role is offered on a zero-hours basis, with shifts available ad hoc, depending on venue bookings, private hires, and scheduled events. There are no guaranteed hours, but regular work may be available during busy periods. This role is ideal for someone looking for flexible, event-based work. Key Responsibilities • Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks efficiently and responsibly, • Operate the till and handle card payments accurately, • Check ID and follow Challenge 25 and licensing regulations, • Keep the bar area clean, stocked, and organised, • Set up and close down the bar for events, • Provide excellent customer service and engage positively with guests, • Support the wider venue team during busy periods, • Essential Requirements, • Friendly, approachable, and confident with customers, • Reliable and punctual, • Able to work evenings and weekends, • Good communication and teamwork skills, • Basic understanding of health & safety and hygiene, • Previous bar or hospitality experience, • Personal Licence or bar training, • Experience working events or live music nights What We Offer • £13 per hour, • Flexible shifts around events, • A fun, inclusive working environment, • Opportunity to work at live music and community events, • Potential for ongoing work as the venue grows Working Pattern • Shifts offered on an ad hoc basis, linked to events and private hires, • Evening and weekend availability required, • Shifts will be offered in advance where possible, • Staff are not obliged to accept shifts if unavailable How to Apply If you’re interested, please get in touch with a short introduction and any relevant experience.
