Zerodegrees Blackheath is looking for a Deputy General Manager with energy, personality and ambition to help lead our busy microbrewery, bar and restaurant in the heart of Blackheath Village. Were not looking for someone who simply opens the doors, runs a shift and goes home. We want someone who takes ownership , notices what could be better and does something about it. Youll work closely with the General Manager to run the business, develop the team and deliver the kind of hospitality that makes people want to come back. Competitive salary + tronc/tips Staff meals on shift 25% staff discount Generous holiday allowance Training and development Beer, wine and supplier training and visits Genuine opportunity to develop towards a General Manager role The chance to make an impact rather than simply follow a corporate playbook Work in a genuinely different venue a restaurant, bar and working microbrewery all under one roof What youll be doing Working alongside the General Manager, you'll help take responsibility for the day-to-day performance of the restaurant and bar, including: Leading busy services from the front Creating a warm, lively and welcoming atmosphere Talking to guests, building relationships and turning first-time visitors into regulars Recruiting, training, coaching and developing the team Keeping the team motivated, engaged and accountable Maintaining excellent standards across service, food, drink, cleanliness and presentation Managing rotas, labour and staffing levels effectively Supporting sales growth and looking for opportunities to make the business busier Understanding the numbers behind the business and helping control costs Handling guest feedback and resolving problems confidently Supporting stock management and operational controls Making sure standards don't slip when the General Manager isn't there Taking real ownership of the venue when you're running the shift The person we're looking for Experience matters at this level, but personality and attitude matter just as much to us . You should be someone who: Naturally smiles and genuinely enjoys talking to customers Has energy and presence on the floor Makes guests feel noticed and welcome Enjoys getting to know regular customers and building relationships Leads from the front rather than managing from the office Gets the team moving when the energy drops Notices problems without waiting to be told about them Holds people accountable while still being someone the team enjoys working with Is commercially minded and understands that great hospitality and a successful business go together Stays calm and makes good decisions when things get busy Takes pride in standards and the small details customers notice Is reliable, organised and comfortable taking responsibility Wants to learn, improve and progress You'll ideally already have experience as a Deputy Manager, Assistant General Manager, experienced Supervisor or similar in a busy restaurant, bar or hospitality business. The kind of manager we want We believe managers set the tone. If the manager is smiling, talking to customers, helping the team and bringing energy to the floor, the team tends to follow. So we're looking for someone who doesn't just tell people what good hospitality looks like they demonstrate it themselves. You should be comfortable jumping behind the bar when it's busy, helping the floor, talking to a table, dealing with a complaint, coaching a team member or spotting something that needs fixing.
