Job Description The Drafter is responsible for creating accurate technical drawings and 3D models to support the design, fabrication, and manufacturing of products. This role works closely with engineering, production, and project teams to translate concepts, specifications, and field information into detailed 2D drawings and 3D images used for manufacturing, sales, and customer approvals. Key Responsibilities not limited to: • Create, revise, and maintain detailed 2D CAD drawings and 3D models for manufactured components, assemblies, and systems, • Develop 3D images and renderings for design visualization, internal review, customer presentations, and sales support, • Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and notes to produce accurate manufacturing drawings, • Ensure drawings comply with company standards, industry codes, and manufacturing best practices, • Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing teams to resolve design and production issues, • Update drawings based on engineering changes, field feedback, and production requirements, • Maintain organized and up-to-date drawing files, revision histories, and documentation, • Assist with bills of materials (BOMs) and part documentation as needed, • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience), • Proven experience as a Drafter or CAD Technician in a manufacturing environment, • Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD and Inventor, • Strong ability to create and manipulate 3D models and images, • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and tolerances, • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, • Experience creating 3D renderings for customer-facing or sales applications, • Familiarity with sheet metal, weldments, machined parts, or fabricated assemblies (as applicable), • Knowledge of GD&T - Geometrical Dimensional Tolerances, • Strong visual and spatial reasoning skills, • Effective communication and collaboration skills, • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines, • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on practical manufacturing solutionsCompany DescriptionFor over 10 decades, VMC Group has been recognized as a world leader in the design and manufacture of vibration isolation, seismic control and shock protection products.
