Job Description Job Title: Electrician Job Description This role focuses on performing electrical work on commercial construction projects across New Jersey. You will support and execute a wide range of tasks, from conduit layout and wire pulling to panel and switchboard installations, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient electrical systems in commercial and high-rise environments. Responsibilities • Perform electrical work on commercial construction projects throughout New Jersey, following applicable codes and safety standards., • Install, bend, and layout conduits including EMT, PVC, and ENT for various commercial applications., • Pull wire and cable through conduit systems and other pathways, ensuring proper labeling, routing, and termination., • Complete under-slab concrete electrical work, including layout and installation of conduits and related components before concrete pours., • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and electrical schematics to plan and execute installations accurately., • Install and connect switches, receptacles, and other devices for lighting and power distribution systems., • Perform panel work, including mounting, wiring, and terminating electrical panels and subpanels., • Install and assist with switchboard installation, ensuring proper alignment, connections, and functionality., • Support the installation and basic setup of fire alarm systems and related electrical components as directed., • Work as a helper or mechanic, depending on experience level, to assist electricians or lead specific tasks on site., • Inspect completed work for quality, safety, and compliance with project specifications and electrical codes., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, and handle tools, equipment, and materials responsibly., • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other trades to coordinate work on active construction sites. Essential Skills • 2 to 10 years of experience as an electrician helper or mechanic working on commercial electrical projects., • Hands-on experience performing electrical work on commercial construction sites., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and electrical plans., • Proficiency in pulling wire and cable for commercial installations., • Experience performing pipe work and laying out conduits for electrical systems., • Ability to perform under-slab concrete electrical work, including conduit layout and installation., • Experience installing and working with EMT, PVC, and ENT conduits., • Skill in installing switches, receptacles, and related devices for power and lighting., • Experience with panel work, including installation and wiring of electrical panels., • Experience assisting with or performing switchboard installation., • Exposure to fire alarm electrical work, including basic installation tasks., • Commercial electrical experience, with high-rise project experience considered a strong advantage. Additional Skills & Qualifications • High-rise commercial project experience is a plus., • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively as part of a field construction team., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety., • Willingness to travel to different commercial job sites across New Jersey. Work Environment This position is field-based on active commercial construction sites throughout New Jersey. The role involves working both indoors and outdoors, often in partially completed structures, and may require standing, bending, lifting, and working in confined or elevated areas. Hours typically follow standard construction schedules, with potential for variations based on project needs. Work attire should be appropriate for construction environments, including durable clothing, work boots, and required personal protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, and gloves. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Whippany, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $36.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
