The Surgical Tech supports the surgical team during operative procedures by maintaining sterile fields, preparing patients, and ensuring all instruments and supplies are available. This role assists with patient preparation, operative tasks, and operating room turnover, helping ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care in collaboration with the registered nurse. Compensation: $24-28 per hour Location: Barrington, IL ASC Schedule: Per surgery schedule Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Communicates accurate and timely information to the Registered Nurse regarding patients in their care., • Records pertinent information clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner., • Maintains proper sterile fields during surgical procedures., • Counts sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operations., • Scrubs arms and hands, and assists the surgical team with scrubbing, gowning, and gloving., • Provides technical assistance to surgeons, surgical nurses, and anesthesiologists., • Prepares patients for surgery, including positioning and draping to maintain sterile conditions., • Hands instruments and supplies to surgeons/assistants, holds retractors, cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed during procedures., • Prepares, cares for, and disposes of tissues specimens for laboratory analysis., • Washes and sterilizes equipment using germicides and sterilizers., • Monitors and continually assesses operating room conditions, including patient and team needs., • Operates, assembles, adjusts, and monitors sterilizers, lights, suction machines, and diagnostic equipment., • Prepares and applies (or assists with application of) surgical dressings and bandages., • Cleans and restocks the operating room, arranging instruments and supplies according to preference cards., • Orders surgical supplies and maintains fluids such as plasma, saline, blood, or glucose for use during operations., • Observes patients' vital signs to assess condition., • Maintains accurate files and records of surgical procedures., • Completes annual mandatory training by assigned due date., • Performs other related duties as assigned.Education & Experience:, • High School Diploma or GED (required)., • Completion of a recognized Surgical Tech program preferred (CST required in select states)., • BLS certification required., • At least one year of healthcare experience (required).Required Skills & Abilities:, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills., • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software., • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail., • Ability to perform under stress in the OR environment while maintaining emotional maturity, stability, and flexibility., • Ability to verify visual and audio alarms on machines.Physical Demands:, • Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods., • Must be able to communicate effectively with or without reasonable accommodations., • Frequent use of hands to handle, feel, and reach with arms., • Frequently lift/move up to 10 lbs; occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs., • Ability to push up to 300 lbs., • Specific vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus (20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses).Full-Time Employee Benefits:, • Health, Dental & Vision Insurance, • Paid Time Off (PTO), • Company Paid Holidays, • 401(k) Retirement Plan, • Accident, Life/AD&D, and Short-Term Disability Insurance., • Travel Assistance Program, • ID-Theft Protection Services, • LifeMart Employee Discount Program, • Bonusly (employee rewards & recognition), • DailyPay (on-demand pay access), • Health Savings Account (HSA) We do not discriminate based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, genetic information, or any other status protected by law or regulation.
