Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurses (RNs) work closely with doctors and heart specialists to control patients’ blood pressure and to prevent heart failure. The CVICU RN provides education and support to families and patients while acting as a liaison between the doctors and the patients. CVICU RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Assess a patient’s condition and implement care plan while observing and recording patients’ vital signs, • Administer medication and operate cardiovascular equipment like oxygenation machines and balloon pumps, • Respond to life-threatening situations Shift: Nights

Operating Room Nurses (OR RNs) care for patients before, during, and after surgery and assist the surgeon in procedures. The OR RN provides direct and individualized care to patients. OR RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications, • Coordinate with medical team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, • Create and maintain a sterile and safe surgical environment, • Conduct pre- and post-operative education Shift: Days

Mother-Baby RNs consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans for both mother and infant. Mother-Baby RNs monitor the bonding between mother and infant and provide mothers with breastfeeding tips. Mother-Baby RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Maintain a comfortable, safe, and clean environment for mother and infant, • Assist mothers with hygienic needs, checking for any postpartum bleeding, examining the fundus, and C-section incision (if applicable), • Perform emotional status checks on mothers, recognizing symptoms related to postpartum depression Shift: Nights

Pediatric Intensive Care RNs (PICU RNs) provide age-appropriate care to pediatric patients and consult with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. The PICU RN assists the physician during examination, treatment, and procedures, which can include life-saving situations. PICU RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Monitor patient’s vital signs, such as blood pressure, breathing, and heart rate, • Follow continuous cardiac and respiratory monitor readings, such as EKG tracings, O2 stats, CVP/arterial line waveforms, • Track urine output, change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs, • Administer infusion therapy, including IV fluids, antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, electrolytes, • Assist with the insertion or discontinuation of CV catheters, arterial lines, external ventricular drains, epidural catheters, and endotracheal tubes, Foleys Shift: Nights

Labor and Delivery RNs (L&D RNs) are responsible for monitoring patients throughout labor and serve as the primary point of contact for family members. L&D RNs monitor the baby’s heart rate and provide immediate care to the newborn. L&D RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Perform knowledge of phlebotomy, basic IV, and central lines, • Assess and record maternal vital signs throughout labor and post-partum stages, • Administer pain medication and other medicines as ordered, • Educate and support new mothers and families on infant care Shift: Days
