Job DescriptionDescription: Central Oregon Pediatric Associates (COPA) of Bend, Oregon, the largest pediatric practice in the region, is hiring a part-time Evening and Weekend Acute Care RN. At COPA, the Evening and Weekend Acute Care RN plays an integral role serving patients at our friendly and welcoming medical clinic for children of all ages. The Evening and Weekend Acute Care RN is responsible for the comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for pediatric patients across age groups, with an emphasis on managing acute care appointments and urgent pediatric needs. This position is integral in providing high-quality, timely care in a fast-paced environment, meeting COPA’s standards of care. The role of the Evening and Weekend Acute Care RN will include but is not limited to the following duties: Maintains an in-depth knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and standards in pediatric acute care, and adheres to COPA’s policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements: • Conducts thorough, efficient assessments for infants, toddlers, school-age children, and adolescents in acute situations, prioritizing based on patient condition or presenting symptoms in line with COPA protocols., • Quickly develops, organizes, and implements nursing care plans for acute pediatric conditions, ensuring all interventions align with physician orders and patient needs., • Administers pediatric medications, treatments, and immunizations accurately and promptly, following COPA’s protocols for acute care settings., • Supports patients needing complex care management with nursing appointments and updating care plans, • Manages NG tubes, G-tubes, port draws, and hydration therapy as part of acute care management., • Efficiently navigates EHR systems for prompt documentation, order entry, and access to patient information, ensuring accurate and timely updates to the medical record., • Acts independently to assess and manage acute symptoms within the scope of practice, utilizing sound clinical judgment and critical thinking., • Provides essential support to CMA teams and providers, including administering immunizations, assisting with rooming patients, and aiding in acute procedures, particularly during high-volume periods., • Educates patients and their families on acute conditions, treatment plans, and post-visit care to enhance understanding and support recovery., • Ensures appropriate levels of supplies and equipment for acute care appointments, facilitating a well-prepared clinic environment., • Actively engages in continued learning to maintain skills relevant to acute care, staying current with industry trends and best practices., • Assists in training new staff in acute care practices, promoting a culture of excellence and safety., • Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing program., • Required: Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Oregon and license must be in good standing; BSN preferred, • Required: Oregon licensure as required for education., • Current CPR for Healthcare Provider required., • Nursing experience required; pediatric experience and telephone triage preferred., • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse population; superior nursing process skills; strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills; ability to make independent nursing judgments and prioritize workload; knowledge of community services; ability to multi-task and work independently., • Epic EMR experience preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite., • Use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level in person, over the telephone or through use of other required technology. Sitting or standing for long periods of time. Frequent repetitive motion includes computer keyboard use, reaching with hands and arms, and walking. Occasional lifting and or moving up to 30 pounds and on rare occasion up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include viewing computer monitor for long periods of time, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception., • Work inside in a general medical office setting with ergonomically configured equipment., • The employee is subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to mechanical parts and chemicals including odors. The employee has been identified as having the likelihood of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials, therefore are included in the OSHA Exposure Control Plan with specification for preventing contact with the above materials.
