Job DescriptionDescription: GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Tax Clerk is responsible for every process with all mortgage taxes for escrow and non-escrowed loans, back up for the Insurance Clerk, and part of the Escrow Analysis Team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB: 1. Handle all aspects of escrow and non-escrowed taxes for mortgage loans., 2. Handle all delinquent taxes., 3. Complete reports and daily tasks in a timely manner., 4. Work as part of the Escrow Analysis Team., 5. Monitor and maintain tax reporting out of Z-Tax., 6. Back up the Insurance Clerk when needed., 7. Respond to customer inquiries (phone, email, or written correspondence) in a timely and accurate manner., 8. Deliver high quality, customer facing support by actively engaging with customers, addressing concerns, and ensuring a positive overall experience. 9. Manage and de-escalate challenging customer situations while maintaining professionalism and company standards., 10. All other tasks as assigned by supervisor. Requirements: REQUIRED SKILLS: 1. Ability to communicate effectively with realtors, builders and bank personnel., 2. Ability to work under pressures, detail-oriented, multi-task, problem-solving and work effectively with other personnel., 3. RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENT: Funds, Property & Equipment Responsibility: 3000, 4. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and understand general business- and company-related articles and professional journals with the ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees. 5. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios and proportions to practical situations. 6. SOFTWARE SKILLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Basic: 10-Key, Accounting, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing with the regular use of highly complex machines and equipment; specialized or advanced software programs. 7. CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions; ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situation of a routine nature. 8. ACCURACY: Probable errors of internal and external scope would have a moderate effect on the operational efficiency of the organizational component concerned. Errors might possibly go undetected for a considerable period of time, thereby creating an inaccurate picture of an existing situation. Could cause further errors, losses, or embarrassment to the organization. The possibility for error is always present due to requirements of the job. 9. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Under immediate supervision where standard practice enables the employee to proceed alone on routine work, referring any questionable cases or issues to direct supervisor. 10. PLANNING: Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner and/or sequence of performance of own work; may also occasionally assist in the planning of work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation., 11. DECISION-MAKING: Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance, either of which would affect the work operations of medium organizational component and the organization’s clientele., 12. MENTAL DEMAND: Close mental demand; operations requiring close and continuous attention for control of operations; operations requiring intermittent direct thinking to determine or select the most applicable way of handling situations regarding the company’s administration and operations; also determine or select material and equipment where highly variable sequences are involved. 13. ANALYTICAL ABILITY / PROBLEM-SOLVING: Moderately structured. Fairly broad activities using moderately structured procedures with only generally guided supervision. Interpolation of learned things in somewhat varied situations. 14. PUBLIC CONTACT: Occasional contacts with patrons on routine matters., 15. EMPLOYEE CONTACT: Contacts of considerable importance within the department or office, such as those required in coordination of effort, or frequent contacts with other departments or offices, generally in normal course of performing duties. Requires tact in discussing problems and presenting data and making recommendations, but responsibility for action and decision reverts to others. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS and WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the essential functions of this job, this position is regularly required to sit or stand, and talk; may occasionally lift, move, push or pull up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. This is an indoor position and the noise level in the work area is usually moderate. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED equivalent, plus knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Thorough understanding of Bank and Investors’ regulations. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports directly to the Mortgage Servicing Support Specialist. The Mortgage Serving Support Specialist reports to the Mortgage Operations Manger who reports to the Executive Vice President, Mortgage Operations. The Executive Vice President reports to the President of American National Bank & Trust who reports to the CEO of American National Bank & Trust.
