Job Description Job Title: Grinder / Shop Associate Job Description This role supports a manufacturing shop by grinding forged metal parts, performing basic metal fabrication tasks, and measuring materials to ensure they meet specifications. You will operate hand tools and production machinery, deburr and finish components, and work on a second-shift schedule with training provided to help you develop your skills. Responsibilities • Grind forged metal and alloy parts to specified dimensions and finishes using appropriate tools and equipment., • Operate grinders and other shop machinery safely and efficiently in a production environment., • Use hand and power tools to perform grinding, deburring, and general metal finishing tasks., • Measure materials accurately using a tape measure, micrometers, and calipers to verify dimensions and tolerances., • Assist with general metal fabrication tasks as needed to support production., • Follow written and verbal work instructions to complete jobs to quality standards and within required timeframes., • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures and guidelines., • Inspect parts visually and with measuring tools to identify defects or nonconformances and report issues promptly., • Handle and move materials and parts throughout the shop as required for production., • Ability to perform grinding operations on forged metals and alloys., • Experience using hand tools and power tools in a shop or manufacturing environment., • Basic machine operation skills in a production or general labor setting., • Ability to measure accurately with a tape measure, micrometers, and calipers., • Comfort working with metal fabrication processes and equipment., • Ability to follow safety procedures and work instructions consistently., • Willingness and ability to work a second-shift schedule starting at 2:30 pm., • Experience working in a forging environment preferred., • Metal fabrication or manufacturing is an advantage., • Familiarity with deburring and finishing metal parts is beneficial., • Strong attention to detail and quality when measuring and inspecting parts., • Willingness to learn and participate in provided training to expand skills. You will join a stable manufacturing operation that invests in training and supports the development of hands-on technical skills. The role offers consistent second-shift hours and the opportunity to gain experience with metal fabrication, forging, and precision measurement in a production environment. You can build a solid foundation in shop operations while contributing to a team-focused, safety-conscious workplace. Work Environment This position is based in a manufacturing facility with a focus on metal fabrication and forging. You will work on the second shift starting at 2:30 pm, operating grinders, machines, and various hand and power tools around metalworking equipment. The environment is active and production-oriented, with typical manufacturing conditions such as noise, moving machinery, and handling metal parts. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are required to maintain safety and comfort on the shop floor. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
