About the Company Recurrent Energy is one of the world’s largest and most geographically diversified utility-scale solar and energy storage project development, ownership, and operations platforms. With an industry-leading team of in-house energy experts, we are a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc. and function as Canadian Solar’s global development and power services business. About the Role The Estimating (Offers) Engineer is responsible for the technical and economic preparation of EPC proposals for utility‑scale photovoltaic plants and BESS projects. The role bridges engineering, procurement, construction, and commercial teams, transforming conceptual and preliminary designs into robust, competitive, and executable EPC offers, with clear cost structure, assumptions, risks, and exclusions. Responsibilities EPC Cost Estimation & Bid Preparation • Prepare full EPC cost estimates for PV and BESS projects, including: PV plants (modules, structures, DC/AC systems, MV collection, spare parts); BESS systems (battery containers, PCS, transformers, HVAC, BMS, fire systems); Balance of Plant (BoP): civil works, electrical works, HV interconnection, SCADA, communications, Testing and Commissioning, quality, H&S, indirect costs; Engineering, Legalization., • Develop CAPEX breakdowns (CBS / WBS level) for use in bids, and management reviews., • Perform bill of quantities based on conceptual, basic, or preliminary engineering packages., • Define and document assumptions, exclusions, clarifications, risk and opportunities, and boundary conditions for each offer. Technical–Commercial Coordination • Coordinate with: Engineering teams (PV, BESS, HV, civil, electrical); Procurement for budgetary pricing and supplier quotations; Construction teams to validate productivity rates, construction methods, and schedules; Business Development and Commercial teams during bid strategy definition., • Support value engineering and cost optimization proposals without compromising technical or contractual robustness. BESS‑Specific Estimation & Integration • Estimate BESS‑related scopes including: Battery system supply (cells, racks, containers)., • PCS, transformers, auxiliary systems; Fire detection & suppression, HVAC, EMS/BMS; Augmentation strategies and lifecycle cost considerations (when required)., • Coordinate technical alignment with energy modelling and battery sizing inputs. Risk, Contingency & Sensitivity Analysis • Identify technical, construction, and commercial risks affecting cost and schedule., • Develop risk‑based contingencies and support sensitivity analysis (layout, logistics, phasing, BESS duration, grid scope)., • Support internal bid reviews and Investment Committee deliverables when required. Bid Documentation & Governance • Prepare and review: Technical / commercial exhibits related to scope and pricing; Cost summaries and management presentations; Inputs for EPC schedules, milestones, and cash‑flow curves., • Ensure alignment with corporate estimating standards, HSE requirements, and technical governance processes. Qualifications • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Energy Engineering or equivalent., • 3+ years of experience in: EPC estimating, bid engineering, procurement, or technical commercial roles, Utility scale photovoltaic projects (≥50 MW)., • Demonstrated experience in BESS projects (stand alone or hybrid) is highly desirable., • Exposure to international EPC bids and multi country projects is a strong advantage. Required Skills • Solid understanding of: PV plant design and construction principles and BESS architectures, integration, and balance‑of‑plant impacts., • Strong estimating and cost‑modelling skills using Excel‑based tools., • Ability to interpret layouts, single‑line diagrams, and preliminary engineering documents., • Familiarity with EPC contracts, scope definitions, and risk allocation., • Strong analytical and structural thinking., • Commercial mindset with attention to detail., • Ability to work under bid deadlines and manage multiple offers simultaneously., • Clear communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
