The diverse nature of the requirements (structural, fatigue, tightness, etc.) must be taken into account, as well as the selection of the different verification methods that will need to be applied. In the second stage, preliminary design studies will be conducted using CAD tools and analytical strength calculation methods. Subsequently, the detailed design will be carried out along with FEM simulations to validate the design and verify compliance with structural integrity requirements. During this stage, prototypes will be manufactured to validate different design and assembly concepts, whenever necessary. Finally, the components will be manufactured and the different parts assembled, verifying the requirements throughout the process. In addition, to create these prototypes and manufacture the components, students will be introduced to the various manufacturing techniques available in protospace, such as machining, laser cutting, turning, hot-wire cutting, additive manufacturing, and composite manufacturing, among others. Students will also be asked to analyze alternative manufacturing methods not currently available in the department in order to expand the portfolio of rapid manufacturing resources available. This will require knowledge not only of the different methods and machinery used, but also of the availability of materials and the specific characteristics of each technology in order to create appropriate designs (Design for Manufacturing). The final project will combine both theory and practice, requiring a very active commitment to rapid prototyping and alternative manufacturing methods. The main deliverables will be: - CAD design of the different stages of the project. - Analysis of the different manufacturing techniques and justification of the selection of the techniques to be used, along with any trade-offs. - FEM analysis with corresponding justification of the different models, joints, or components. - Descriptive study (economic and technical) of the decisions made in the selection of materials, as well as the methods and problems encountered during the course of the project. In the Systems area of Maintenance Programs Department, the different Aircraft systems are analyzed using the MSG-3 methodology in order to identify the scheduled maintenance requirements. The starting point is the design office documentation related with systems/structure/wiring descriptions, drawings (catia) and digital mock-ups, safety analyses, certification plans, etc). These analyses contain a high level of systems description and a thorough analysis of its functions, functional failures, failure effects and failure causes. Examples of the analyzed systems are: Engines, Propeller and Auxiliary Power Unit. Internship Job Description: Monitoring the progress of work is particularly relevant in an MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) environment due to the variability of the tasks and the need to adapt to customer requirements in real-time, both in terms of planning and costs. Similarly, the specialization and specificity of the work make the planning of Maintenance events particularly complex, always keeping in mind the goal of delivering on Cost, Time, and Quality; while ensuring that we work in a safe environment, as Safety is our top priority. In this context, at the A400M MRO in Getafe, we currently have several tools that help us monitor the progress and cost of the aircraft we work on. Some of these tools are: Build Process: Tactical planning of the event, where tasks are grouped into large blocks, which are planned by weeks. Operational Planning: A list of tasks where the specialty of the work to be performed, as well as the work areas, are identified. Based on various factors, tasks are assigned to a work team and planned weekly. Performance Tracker: After building the operational planning, a Performance Tracker is created. The objective of this Performance Tracker is to reflect the progress of the work in real-time, in order to identify possible delays and take action as soon as possible. Scope: The internship holder will join the MRO/Production team of the A400M MRO in Getafe, becoming part of a team of over 100 people, with direct contact with a productive workshop environment and, at the same time, collaborating with the management team of that area. The objective will be to redefine the mentioned work files, ensuring their correct implementation, operation, and compliance with all necessary requirements in all phases and stations of the aircraft. The possibility of a complete redefinition of the way operational tracking ("Performance Tracker") is carried out and its integration with existing management systems is valued. The basis of this exercise will be digitalization, through which we can achieve greater maturity and robustness in our control and reporting systems as an area, to act faster and better and thus improve our efficiency. The involvement of the internship holder in our day-to-day operations is key, as the more they get to know our area, the work we do, how we organize it, etc., the better they will understand what needs to be changed to achieve the project's objective.
