Lead Frontend Engineer CQuel’s mission is to accelerate the decarbonisation of commercial real estate. We do this by providing a SaaS platform to help our consultancies and ESG teams transform themselves into an implementation engine. Our platform gives them the power to write briefs, tender and vet selected suppliers all in one place. This is sustainability but at its core it is engineering; we are focused on getting projects implemented. The world’s first DIY platform for light retrofits! We’re a small but highly skilled team of 9 FTEs working remotely from the UK, Barcelona and Berlin. Our team is multi-disciplinary with significant experience from tech startups, marketplaces and building engineering. All of these different expertises are needed to cope with our rapid traction. After commercial launch in the beginning of this year, we are currently tendering net zero technologies worth more than EUR 20m for 250 assets in the UK and Germany. Our clients are some of Europe’s biggest commercial real estate companies and most prestigious decarbonisation consultancies. To assure that we continuously deliver them best offers, we count on a rapidly growing network of hundreds of vetted suppliers. We’re searching for a Lead Frontend Engineer who is motivated by making great products for businesses with a purpose. You’ll take on a newly launched SaaS product and grow it out into a far more complex offering. This is B2B(2B) and you will need a good understanding and experience in working with enterprise customers - efficiency and good prioritisation are key. You must be passionate about design and interaction, but pragmatic enough to make decisions which are in the interest of delivering value early, even if the solution is not perfect in every way. This role is fully remote, although we do have co-working spaces we use in Manchester, UK, and in Barcelona, Spain and a few team members in those areas. We meet at regular intervals throughout the year as a team. You must be able to work UK/European time. Requirements Experience working with Typescript, React and NextJS Deploying, debugging and scaling Serverless deployments of NextJS using Cloudfront and AWS Lambda Working with Github Actions or similar CI/CD platforms Skilled in frontend visual development At least a good stint working in a B2B product environment Visible examples of product work you’ve developed You want to work here, because our mission matters to you Things we look for Collaborative; you can work with teams within and outside software engineering Self-starting: you know how to take an early concept and get going straight away Design focused: you love working hand in hand with a great designer Technical: you’re a frontend engineer who understands engineering Communication: you raise issues and thoughts early Self-aware: you understand your strengths and limits Ideally You’ve worked within a small team and know how to mark your own homework sometimes German speaking (many of our customers are in Germany) Experience working with AI/ML driven products Experience working with Django / Python backends Understanding of decarbonisation and/or the building industry Some familiarity with the SST framework used for NextJS deployments Understanding of SAML / SSO authentication workflows
