ph3Job Description /h3 pThe successful candidate will join the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) as part of a multidisciplinary team developing AI-based computer vision systems for surgical instrument recognition, at the intersection of artificial intelligence, computer vision and clinical practice. The project is carried out in collaboration with HealthTech Innovations and is deployed on a robotic platform used in the central sterilization unit and operating rooms of the Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol. /p pThe role is centered on the design, training and optimization of computer vision and deep learning algorithms — covering the full pipeline from data acquisition and labeling to model training, evaluation and deployment. Prior industrial robotics experience is not required, although a basic understanding of perception systems interacting with robotic control loops is expected and can be consolidated on the job. The position requires a high level of technical autonomy: writing, testing and maintaining production-level code, training and iterating on models, and contributing to architectural decisions for the AI system. Candidates with strong senior or junior hands‑on experience are especially encouraged to apply. /p h3Main Responsibilities /h3 ul liLead the development of the AI-based surgical instrument recognition system, responsible for the design, training and performance of its computer vision and machine learning components. /li liDesign and develop computer vision pipelines for surgical instrument detection, classification and tracking, covering the full lifecycle from data acquisition and preprocessing to model training, evaluation and deployment. /li liTrain and fine-tune machine learning and deep learning models, select appropriate architectures, define evaluation metrics and implement strategies to improve accuracy and generalization in real hospital environments. /li liGenerate datasets, define labeling strategies and data augmentation techniques, and iterate on models based on validation results. /li liCoordinate with the robotics engineering team on HealthTech Innovations to integrate the AI/computer vision modules into the robotic platform, focusing on perception. /li liTest and validate the system in the central sterilization unit and operating room, analyze performance, identify limitations and propose technical improvements. /li liDocument algorithms, code and experimental results to support regulatory processes and scientific dissemination. /li /ul h3Qualifications and Experience /h3 ul liDegree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics/Physics with a computational focus, or a related technical field. /li liMaster’s degree or specialized training in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning or Computer Vision; or equivalent professional experience. /li liBackground in Robotics Engineering or Automation acceptable if strong hands‑on AI/computer-vision experience is demonstrated. /li liProven hands-on experience developing computer vision and deep learning systems for real-world applications: object detection, segmentation, classification and/or tracking. /li liProficiency in Python and at least one major deep learning framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow). /li liExperience with OpenCV. /li liExperience with the full model lifecycle: dataset generation, labeling, augmentation, training, evaluation and iterative optimization, ideally in applied or industrial contexts. /li liKnowledge of surgical instruments or medical environments is an asset; strong motivation and ability to adapt quickly to a hospital setting is essential. /li liFluency in Spanish; Catalan valued as an asset. Good level of English for technical documentation, scientific communication and collaboration. /li liStrong problem-solving skills, autonomy, proactive attitude and genuine ownership of technical decisions. /li liAvailability to commute regularly to the Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol or to the HealthTech Innovations S.L. offices in Premià de Mar. /li /ul h3Additional Value /h3 ul liKnowledge of C/C++ and robotics middleware (e.g. ROS). /li liPrior exposure to robotic perception systems or integration of AI components into a robotic platform. /li /ul h3Benefits /h3 ul liIndefinite contract under scientific law linked to the project (Project CPP2024‑ funded by MICIU/AEI/FEDER, EU). /li liImmediate incorporation into a highly innovative applied research and development project with direct impact on real clinical environments. /li liFull-time, 39-hour work week with flexible schedule and partial remote work. /li liHybrid model requiring regular on-site collaboration at HealthTech Innovations and Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol when needed. /li li23 days paid annual leave, plus 5 additional days for personal matters, plus 2 days for Easter and 2 days for Christmas. /li /ul h3Equal Opportunity Statement /h3 pThe IGTP, in its commitment to equal opportunities, guarantees equal treatment between candidates and persons with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33 percent, as accredited by the Spanish Autonomous Regions or the State Administration, or who have been declared to have a total permanent disability in a different profession through a resolution of the National Institute of Social Security, while retaining functional capacity for the completion of the tasks of the post will be positively considered. /p /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
