We understand how gutted you must feel – you have every right to be upset. After all, you put in so much effort in getting your application just right and prepping for your interviews. Yes, applying for jobs is an intense process but there are ways you can manage your stress whilst job-hunting.
Here are a few handy tips to help you cope if you don’t land your dream job.
It’s absolutely alright to feel a bit sorry for yourself and grieve for not getting that dream job.
Curl up on your sofa, spend the day with Netflix and your favorite junk food. Use this one day (two days max!) to whine, vent and grieve for not getting that job. Hey, if Netflix isn’t your thing, then hit the gym, meditate or go for a run to work off your frustrations.
Do what you have to do to get this negativity out of your system.
It’s quite easy to drive yourself up the wall by replaying your application and interview situation again and again in your head. Try not to do that by keeping your mind occupied with healthy Netflix binging :p (or reading mate, whatever your thing is :))
If negative thoughts do pop in to your head, just remind yourself that over-thinking such things isn’t going to achieve anything.
Remember, you are above this.
You’re a brave fellow 😄
Now that you’re up and at it, it’s time to treat this as an opportunity to learn, grow and improve yourself. Contact the hiring manager and ask them what encouraged them to go with another candidate. By understanding how to improve your current skill set or qualification, you’ll be better equipped in the future!
Get back up on the horse and start looking for other job opportunities. You never know what else could catch your eye! With super-fast hiring apps like JOB TODAY, we’re sure you’ll find your next dream job in 24 hours!
