Currently Hiring a Full Time Law Cost Draftsman Fully remote working The Costs Team provides a service to our fee earners who deal with recovery of costs in Housing Disrepair claims, their primary aim is dealing with the preparation of bills of costs, negotiation and advocacy within the detailed assessment of costs proceedings. Your Role This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ambitious individual to join a growing national team. You’ll be involved in the preparation of Bills of Costs for Detailed/Provisional Assessment as well as litigation of bills through the Court process. You may be involved in advocacy at Court if required and you may also be required to prepare Part 8 and enforcement proceedings Ideally you’ll have minimum one year experience working either in house or for an external supplier of costs drafting services. To manage a caseload efficiently and effectively. You will be maintaining an independent caseload from inception to settlement or issuing. Responsibilities will involve handling a varied case load of pre-litigation NIHL work. Some supervision may also be required, however you will be overseen by the departmental Solicitors. This role would suit an experienced Paralegal or Legal Executive who is looking to propel their career, however applications from varied experienced personnel is also encouraged as the firm offers training facilities to assist with career progression. Duties and Responsibilities Proactively working to settle claims on favourable terms for the client within M&S Law's operational policy and the relevant guidelines. Liaising with relevant parties and experts associated with the claim. Providing excellent customer service and ensuring cases are rotated and actioned within the guidelines whilst maintaining WIP. Liaising with the overall department about case strategy and progression. Previous experience in dealing with NIHL claims is essential, however all applications will be considered. Primary Duties Logging Client’s signed Forms of Authority and Completed Questionnaire on the Case Management System Requesting and logging required documentation from the Client DSAR Reviews First port of contact with client Booking and Arranging Client Appointments Preparing a Letter of Claim Preparing Part 36/Calderbanks for both client and defendant All necessary calls and correspondence with the Client and third parties in the initial stages of the Client’s claim.
