Job DescriptionCommercial Creditors' Rights Litigation Associate Attorney Location: New York, NY Compensation: $230,000–$285,000 + discretionary bonus Direct Counsel is seeking a Commercial Creditors' Rights Litigation Associate to join the New York office of a highly regarded national law firm. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 2–4 years of experience in commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and creditors' rights who is looking for substantial client interaction, courtroom experience, and early responsibility within a collaborative litigation practice. The ideal candidate has experience representing lenders and creditors in complex commercial disputes, enforcement actions, and bankruptcy-related litigation, with strong drafting, advocacy, and case management skills. Responsibilities • Represent lenders, financial institutions, and commercial creditors in litigation, bankruptcy, and enforcement proceedings., • Draft pleadings, complaints, motions, discovery requests and responses, settlement agreements, forbearance agreements, and other litigation documents., • Handle matters involving the enforcement of commercial loans, equipment leases, collateral recovery, repossession, workouts, judgment enforcement, and bankruptcy proceedings., • Advise clients on issues arising under the Uniform Commercial Code, including Articles 2, 2A, and 9., • Appear before state, federal, and bankruptcy courts., • Conduct legal research, prepare legal memoranda, and develop litigation strategies., • Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and courts while negotiating settlements and managing active litigation matters., • Collaborate with partners on complex disputes while taking increasing responsibility for case management and client relationships.Qualifications, • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials., • 2–4 years of commercial litigation, bankruptcy, and creditors' rights experience at a law firm., • Experience drafting sophisticated litigation and enforcement documents., • Experience appearing in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts., • Familiarity with commercial loan enforcement, equipment finance litigation, bankruptcy proceedings, workouts, judgment enforcement, and UCC Articles 2, 2A, and 9., • Deposition and courtroom experience is strongly preferred., • Excellent legal writing, analytical, advocacy, and communication skills., • Active admission to the New York Bar and admission to the New Jersey Bar, or willingness to obtain New Jersey admission.Compensation & Benefits, • Competitive base salary of $230,000–$285,000, based on experience., • Eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus., • Hybrid work schedule with three in-office days and two remote workdays per week., • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k), flexible spending accounts, commuter benefits, wellness programs, backup child and elder care, paid time off, and extensive professional development and mentorship opportunities.
