The Sushi Chef is a self-starter and team player with leadership qualities who thrives in a fast-paced, growing environment and can handle a high volume of orders. Requirements: • Ability to follow exact recipe ingredients and procedures for all items from Sushi production, including but not limited to Maki, Temaki, Nigiri, Sashimi, Poke, and Crudo., • Ability to perform a variety of fish fabrication techniques, • Ability to maintain the highest standards of Food Safety and Sanitation practices with attention to detail, • Cutting, chopping, slicing, and fileting different types of produce/proteins (especially different types of fish), • Skills, Abilities, and Experience:, • 3+ years of work in a Sushi restaurant, • Ability to prepare fish (fishmonger, fish butchery)., • Previous New York restaurant experience is a plus, but not mandatory. Cook / Kitchen Team Member – Masbia of Queens Masbia of Queens is hiring a hardworking, dependable Cook / Kitchen Team Member to help prepare and serve hot dinners to people in need. Primary Responsibilities: • Prepare and cook meals in large quantities., • Assist with daily dinner preparation and service., • Maintain an organized, clean, and sanitary kitchen., • Follow food safety and kosher kitchen procedures., • Help manage kitchen supplies and food preparation., • Wash pots, pans, and kitchen equipment as needed. Teamwork: Masbia operates both a soup kitchen serving hot dinners and a food pantry distributing groceries. While cooking and meal service will be your main responsibilities, everyone is expected to pitch in with cleaning, stocking groceries, food distributions, and other tasks as needed. Position Summary We are looking for an experienced PM Cook / Wok Cook to prepare food, run the kitchen line, and support closing operations. The ideal candidate has strong wok experience and is reliable, fast, clean, and comfortable working in a busy fast-casual restaurant. Responsibilities · Prepare and cook menu items according to restaurant recipes, portions, and quality standards. · Cook proteins, vegetables, noodles, and sauces using wok techniques as needed. · Set up and maintain the PM line with proper mise en place, labeling, and restocking. · Maintain food safety, sanitation, temperature, and storage standards. · Complete closing duties, including breakdown, cleaning, labeling, and end-of-shift restock. · Communicate low stock, quality issues, or equipment problems to the manager. · Support teammates with prep, packing, dishwashing, cleaning, and other tasks as needed. Qualifications · 1-2 years of kitchen, line cook, prep cook, or fast-casual restaurant experience required. · Wok cooking experience required; Asian cuisine experience preferred. · Must be available Saturday and Sunday nights, plus 2-3 weekday nights. · Reliable, responsible, punctual, and comfortable working PM/closing shifts. · Able to work quickly while maintaining accuracy, cleanliness, and food quality. · Hands-on team player willing to support other stations when needed. · NYC Food Protection Certificate is a plus, but not required.
