Daycare Assistant - Little Builder’s Group Family Daycare - New York

We are looking for a warm, reliable, and energetic Daycare Assistant/Teacher to support our daily program activities. The ideal candidate loves working with young children, has a patient demeanor, and can help maintain a safe, engaging, and organized classroom environment. Key Responsibilities Assist the lead provider in implementing daily schedules, learning activities, and play routines. Help supervise children during indoor/outdoor play, meals, and rest times to ensure safety at all times. Support children with basic care needs (e.g., handwashing, diapering/potty training, snack distribution). Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming learning environment and prepare educational materials. Communicate positively and professionally with parents and guardians during drop-offs and pick-ups.

• Supervise and care for children, including meals, naps, play, and learning activities., • Assist with preparing, serving, and cleaning up after meals; maintain food inventory and records., • Keep the daycare clean and organized, including toys, materials, and common areas., • Support daily routines, circle time, and outdoor activities., • Follow safety rules, daycare policies, and wear the designated uniform., • Record attendance, clock in/out, and report any concerns to the provider.

Columbia Secondary School is a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) focused public school that serves students in the sixth through tenth grades. The program is focused on leadership, STEM, Social-Emotional Learning, community service, and academics. Students engage in weekly hikes, gardening initiatives, STEM activities, job shadowing, and college readiness programs. POSITION OVERVIEW: Group Leaders are responsible for academic tutoring and assisting lead instructors in preparing students to demonstrate newly acquired skills in STEM, leadership, sports and the arts. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Provide academic support, homework guidance, assistance, and supervision to students., • Organize, lead, and promote the students’ interest and participation in the activities offered by you or the program., • Supervise groups of students while maintaining their physical and emotional safety and health., • Foster an atmosphere of fun and learning, and serve as a role model to students., • Always conducting yourself professionally and maintaining appropriate boundaries., • Establish and enforce rules for behavior, and procedures for maintaining order among the students., • Maintain effective classroom management that encourages full participation and student growth., • Closely coordinate with the Program Director and coworkers for any programmatic changes or any other issues or concerns., • Participate in staff meetings, program evaluations, program improvement, and professional development training throughout the school year. COMPENSATION: • Work paid at $20 an hour., • Employees who are approved and assigned to teach classes will receive the Teaching Artist hourly rate of $21 an hour for the hours they are actively teaching. All non-instructional hours will be compensated at the employee's regular position rate of $20 an hour. POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: • Part-time position., • Available Monday-Friday from 1:30 pm - 6pm (15-20 hours per week) with room for flexibility., • School in the Square is Monday-Friday from 2:30 pm – 6:30 pm (15-20 hours per week) with room for flexibility. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Must be at least 18 years old., • High school diploma., • Experience in running activities with Middle School (6th- 8th) grade students with different learning abilities., • Has some experience in writing lesson plans and leading 45-60 minute educational activities for youth., • Must be able to attend student engagement trips and assist hosting student events in school and for other YM & YWHA programs. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s, Associate, or degree in progress., • Experience using a positive youth development model., • CPR certified., • Teaching Artist- Must have background in teaching or leading an activity.
