Momoya SOHO is looking for Host staff. Momoya Soho is a modern new concept upscale Japanese restaurant, with about 160 seating featuring a full Wine/sake/beer bar, a full sushi bar serving Omakase, and the indoor and outdoor dining areas in the heart of the SOHO (a corner of Prince St. & Mulberry St.). Qualification/Requirements: 0-1 years of fine dining in the NYC area. A passion and excellent knowledge of Japanese cuisine and culture, or at least Interested in learning them. Comfort in a high-volume/fast-paced environment, strong phone & excellent communication skills with fluent English and good typing skill, great smile a must comfortable with developing the VIP guest program, coordinating large parties, taking a reservation for the private / buyout parties, Recognizing our regular and VIP guests All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the USA. Job Details We are seeking HOSTS with a lively personality, love for people and service, & above all else a kind disposition. An hourly rate of $16 The desired candidates will have: - A true passion for hosting -- helping to create an environment where people not only have fun but feel relaxed, welcome, and connected - A minimum 1 year of Host experience in a well-rated restaurant - A genuine nature; able to comfortably engage in natural dialogue with guests - Integrity and the ability to make decisions on your feet - The ability to speak clearly and articulately on the telephone, providing information and answering questions for callers, while focusing on etiquette and conveying a sense of calmness - Open availability to work weekends & afternoons Responsibilities include: - Greet and interact with guests in a professional, warm and courteous manner and develop guest relationships - Navigate reservations platform and client database proficiently - Exhibit knowledge of Melba’s menus, culinary style and concept, reservations policies, operating hours, and other facts about the restaurants and be able to address common guest inquiries - Handle various guest interactions, including but not limited to reservations, confirmation calls, guest reservation requests. Summary of Position Welcome and warmly greet guests on arrival. Answer telephone, take reservations, input online orders, and manage the efficient and timely seating of guest to a table that best serves their wishes. Duties and Responsibilities Warmly and graciously greets all guests upon arrival. When possible, open front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant. When immediate seating is limited, records guest names and number of people in party. Call out name and/ or number of party when tables become available. Provides guests with estimated waiting time, always maintaining a professional, courteous attitude when confronted with hostile, impatient or irate guests. Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible. Seat guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations. Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their servers name. Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness. Relay messages to servers and bussers as needed. Maintain supplies of mints and toothpicks at the host stand. Clean menus of food and stains. Perform other duties as assigned by the manager on duty. Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return. Relay guest comments or suggestions to the manager on duty. Explain the restaurant concept to guests. Give directions to the restaurant to guest inquiring for it. Input online orders into the POS. Review and confirm online reservations through OpenTable. Qualifications No previous restaurant experience or training required. On the job training will be provided. Experience is a plus. Must be a team player and demonstrate organizational skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and confidence. Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours). Excellent verbal and telephone skills to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with our guest. Must have exceptional grooming habits. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Fluency in other languages are a plus. Be flexible and willing to assist as needed to ensure all restaurant standards are met.
