Job Description Assistant Managing Editor, Special Sections/Entertainment – Long Island Press Schneps Media is the leading local news media company in New York, dedicated to serving communities with trusted news and valuable content. We empower local businesses, both small and large, by providing highly effective advertising solutions that drive growth. Schneps Media Long Island seeks an Assistant Managing Editor for Special Sections/Entertainment for its chain of local news outlets covering Nassau County. The Assistant Managing Editor for Special Sections/Entertainment will work closely with our Editor-in-Chief, Digital Editor, Reporters and Graphic Artists. The role will involve writing stories in our WordPress CMS to expedite the online publishing of stories and their placement in our pagination system. The editor will help make sure deadlines are met and workflow moves from editing to publishing and layout efficiently. The qualified candidate is preferably a current Long Island resident, has at least 3 years of experience working in a newsroom, has strong digital skills related to WordPress, optimizing stories and SEO best practices, and is organized and works well with a team.
