Job DescriptionJob Title: Phlebotomist Job Description The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position requires a professional who can effectively manage specimen collection and processing, while ensuring accuracy and patient comfort. Responsibilities • Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens., • Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment as needed., • Update patient information accurately., • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures., • Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients., • Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles., • Understand and comply with all physicians' orders., • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes., • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders., • Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy., • Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.Essential Skills, • Experience with phlebotomy and blood draws., • Ability to handle hard stick situations., • Comfortable working with all patient populations.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, if required., • High School Diploma or GED., • 1-4 years of relevant experience.Work Environment The position operates Monday through Friday with work hours divided between two locations: the IOP, Ridgeview Internal Medicine from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM, and another facility from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. This role requires adherence to established procedures and protocols to maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodbridge, Virginia. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
