Job Description The Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island’s Trauma Recovery Center (JCCGCI’s TRC) is dedicated to promoting equality, justice, and healing in our community. We are committed to providing support and resources to individuals affected by violent crime and trauma through our Trauma Recovery Center. Our mission is to create a safe and inclusive environment that fosters healing and growth. The Victim Support Program is an extension of the Trauma Recovery Center and builds upon the TRC’s commitment to supporting individuals affected by violent crime and victimization. The program expands the TRC’s services by providing specialized victim services, advocacy, care coordination, and resources to promote safety, healing, and stability. The Victim Support Program works collaboratively with the Trauma Recovery Center team and community partners to ensure participants receive coordinated and comprehensive support. The Victim Services & Care Coordinator plays a critical role in providing comprehensive, trauma-informed, and victim-centered services to individuals impacted by violent crime and victimization. This position serves as a primary point of contact for participants and provides individualized advocacy, case management, safety planning, care coordination, systems advocacy, and support from initial intake through follow-up and stabilization. The Coordinator is responsible for providing direct services to approximately 75–100 participants during the fiscal year and works collaboratively with participants, internal staff, and community partners to identify needs, reduce barriers to services, promote safety, and connect individuals with appropriate resources. Responsibilities: • Provide comprehensive, trauma-informed, and victim-centered services to individuals impacted by violent crime and victimization., • Serve as a primary point of contact for approximately 75–100 participants annually, providing support from intake through follow-up, stabilization, and case closure., • Conduct intake, psychosocial, safety, and risk assessments to identify participant needs, strengths, barriers, and service priorities., • Develop individualized service plans and provide mental health services and brief interventions focused on stabilization, coping, emotional regulation, and symptom management related to victimization., • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, case management, and care coordination based on participant needs and identified goals., • Assist participants with navigating housing, public benefits, healthcare, behavioral health, legal services, victim compensation, transportation, employment, and other community resources., • Provide victim compensation assistance, court accompaniment, systems advocacy, and support navigating courts and other systems, as appropriate., • Make appropriate referrals and warm connections to internal and external providers and coordinate services to promote continuity of care., • Provide community-based services and travel to various locations to meet participant needs, attend court or community-based appointments, conduct outreach, and coordinate services as required by the program and applicable VOCA requirements., • Collaborate with community-based organizations, healthcare and behavioral health providers, legal service providers, courts, law enforcement, housing providers, and other partners to support participant needs and outcomes., • Monitor participant engagement, progress, symptoms, referrals, service utilization, and outcomes and adjust services and follow-up as appropriate., • Maintain accurate and timely participant records, case notes, assessments, service plans, safety plans, referrals, and outcome documentation in compliance with HIPAA, professional standards, program policies, and VOCA requirements., • Enter and maintain participant and service data in TherapyNotes and other program databases and reporting systems and support required VOCA and grant reporting., • Participate in multidisciplinary case consultation, quality assurance, case reviews, program evaluation, and activities designed to strengthen service delivery and identify service gaps., • Support program outreach, community engagement, and development of referral pathways and participate in meetings, trainings, and other program activities as assigned., • Collaborate with the Managing Director of Mental Health Services and the Trauma Recovery Center team to address participant needs, implement solutions, and advance program objectives., • Uphold and promote the Trauma Recovery Center’s core values of cultural humility, empathy, agility, and respect. Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health or human services field from an accredited college or university., • Current New York State licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) is required., • Bilingual proficiency in English and Kreyòl Ayisyen is required., • Proven experience providing victim services, case management, crisis intervention, advocacy, care coordination, behavioral health services, or related human services., • Experience working with individuals impacted by violent crime, trauma, victimization, or complex social and behavioral health needs is preferred., • Knowledge of trauma-informed, victim-centered, and culturally responsive approaches to service delivery., • Experience conducting psychosocial or needs assessments, safety and risk assessments, developing service plans, providing crisis intervention, and coordinating referrals and supportive services., • Knowledge of community-based resources, including housing, public benefits, healthcare, behavioral health, legal services, victim compensation, and other social services., • Strong understanding of professional ethics, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and applicable laws, regulations, and standards governing the provision of services to victims and survivors., • Excellent organizational and time management skills., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Strong computer and data management skills., • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage an annual caseload of approximately 75–100 participants in a timely, organized, and effective manner., • Ability to maintain accurate and timely case documentation and manage multiple participant cases and competing priorities., • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse team and multidisciplinary community partners., • Ability to maintain emotional self-regulation, professional composure, and sound judgment when managing crisis, conflict, and emotionally complex situations., • Ability to respond appropriately and professionally to participants experiencing crisis, distress, safety concerns, or complex circumstances., • The ability to travel as required to provide community-based services, attend court or participant appointments, conduct outreach, and coordinate services., • Cultural-humility, empathy, agility, and respect consistent with the TRC's Core Values., • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
