Job Description Job Title: Carpenter Job Description This role focuses on commercial carpentry work, including steel stud framing, general framing, drop ceilings, doors and windows, acoustical ceilings, and finish carpentry. You will perform precise cutting and measuring, install windows and glass, and read blueprints to complete high-quality construction and renovation projects across multiple sites. Responsibilities • Perform steel stud framing and general framing for commercial construction projects., • Install and finish drop ceilings and acoustical ceilings according to project specifications., • Install doors, windows, and related hardware with a high level of accuracy and craftsmanship., • Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings to execute work correctly., • Measure, cut, and fit materials such as studs, panels, and trim using appropriate carpentry tools., • Complete window and glass installation tasks safely and efficiently., • Carry out finish carpentry work, ensuring clean, professional results on all assigned tasks., • Maintain productivity throughout the workday and follow instructions precisely from site leadership., • Accept and apply feedback to improve methods and align with project standards., • Work safely at all times, consistently wearing and using required PPE., • Adhere to site rules, including no cell phone calls and no use of headphones or earbuds during work., • Clock in and out properly at designated locations within the facilities and keep valid identification on hand., • Support a positive, team-oriented environment through a strong work ethic and professional attitude. Essential Skills • Proven experience as a commercial carpenter with hands-on work in framing and finish carpentry., • Strong proficiency in steel stud framing and stud framing for commercial projects., • Demonstrated ability to install drop ceilings and acoustical ceilings., • Skilled in door installation, including proper alignment, hardware fitting, and finishing., • Experience with window installation and glass-related carpentry tasks., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings accurately., • Precise measuring and cutting skills using standard carpentry tools., • Capability to work productively throughout the day while following detailed instructions., • Commitment to safety, including consistent use of PPE and adherence to site safety rules., • OSHA 30 certification. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Commercial carpentry on large, multi-floor projects., • Comfort working across multiple job sites and facilities in NYC and Long Island., • Strong communication skills to receive, understand, and implement feedback from supervisors., • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment., • Reliable time management and punctuality for early morning start times. Work Environment This position involves working on multiple commercial projects across New York City and Long Island, including large facilities with work performed on different floors. The standard workday starts at 7:00 a.m., with arrival on site by 6:45 a.m., and typically ends around 3:30–4:00 p.m., with some overtime available. You will move between two main facilities and must carry valid identification at all times to access and clock in and out on different floors. The site leadership expects consistent productivity, close adherence to directions, and openness to feedback on work methods. The environment is safety-focused, requiring PPE at all times and strict compliance with rules such as no cell phone calls and no headphones or earbuds during work. You will use standard carpentry tools including a hammer, tool belt, carpentry hand tools, speed square, torpedo level, and cordless drill while working in an active construction setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Hyde Park, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
