About the Role: The Endoscopy Tech plays a crucial role in the healthcare services sector, specifically within the gastroenterology field. This position is responsible for assisting in endoscopic procedures, ensuring that all equipment is properly prepared and maintained for optimal performance. The end result of this role is to enhance patient safety and comfort during procedures while supporting the medical team in delivering high-quality care. The Surgical Endo Tech will also be involved in patient education, helping to explain procedures and alleviate concerns. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the gastroenterology practice. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent., • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)., • Associate's degree in a related field or completion of a surgical technology program., • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Endoscopy Technician., • Prepare and maintain endoscopic equipment and instruments for procedures., • Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures by providing necessary tools and support., • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation protocols in the endoscopy suite., • Educate patients about the procedures they will undergo and provide post-procedure care instructions. The required skills for this position include strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. (Training may be through a hospital based program or through the military.) EXPERIENCE 1-2 years of experience and certification as a surgical technician preferred. LICENSURE Must obtain LCC-ST certification within 1 year of employment if not already certified. SPECIAL SKILLS Demonstrated knowledge of the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique combined with the knowledge of human anatomy and various instrumentation and procedures in all surgical areas and services. Demonstrates knowledge of all aspects of the Perioperative Department and works independently on surgical procedures.
