ppOur Engineering Team is looking for an Android Expert able to lead the development of Android Mobile components, ensuring the correct design and implementation of cutting‑edge user interfaces for Android mobile applications. You will translate UX and client requirements into technical solutions and lead the development of such components. /ppYou will be located in Vienna, Austria, or in Sant Cugat (near Barcelona), Spain. /ph3Responsibilities /h3ulliArchitect, develop, and maintain the Design System components and interaction patterns for mobile, consistent with platform strategies, governance policy, and standards. /liliWrite and review clean, testable, scalable code aligned with best practices and design patterns. /liliMaintain code quality through automated testing, code review, and continuous integration pipelines. /liliProvide technical assessment of design component development in mobile, ensuring high quality, customer‑centric, forward‑thinking, and user‑friendly solutions. /liliParticipate actively in the creation of the architecture for Mobile Applications, consistent with platform strategies, governance policy, and standards. /li /ulh3Stakeholder Cross‑Functional Collaboration /h3ulliCollaborate with Design Development teams to align on goals, scope, and business outcomes. /liliEnsure documentation on Mobile Components and support the mobile development community in adoption, implementation, testing, and maintenance. /liliWork with Roche clients (project leaders, architects, designers, front‑end developers) to establish collaboration, understand their needs, and solve their doubts. /liliChampion the adoption of the Design System together with the client and the Usability Engineers across Roche. /li /ulh3Creative / Strategic Activities /h3ulliBrainstorm improvements and propose innovative solutions to improve community engagement. /liliEvaluate new technologies, patterns, and frameworks for potential adoption. /liliContribute to design review, prototypes, and mobile user experience standards. /li /ulh3AI‑Powered Design System /h3ulliCreate documentation for AI agents to ensure users can seamlessly integrate the design system library. /liliDevelop test applications using AI‑driven coding to verify compatibility of the library with AI. /liliDocument all components in Figma’s code connect. /li /ulh3Essential Skills /h3ulliAndroid Development experience of at least 5 years. /liliExpertise in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Git. /liliExperience with Material Design3 for Jetpack Compose and Design Systems. /liliStrong experience building reusable, testable, composable UI components. /liliProficiency in writing unit tests, screenshot tests, and Compose UI tests. /liliDeep knowledge of implementing accessibility best practices (A11y) in Jetpack Compose. /liliRTL knowledge. /li /ulh3Bonus Skills /h3ulliInterest in modern technology trends and best practices. /liliCuriosity in domains outside Android (iOS, cross‑platform). /liliExperience with innersourced products and dev community engagement. /liliExperience creating third‑party libraries. /liliFamiliarity with Dokka and documentation deployment. /liliFamiliarity with GitHub Actions. /liliKnowledge of Design/Figma Tokens in custom Design Systems. /liliExperience working in a regulated environment. /liliJavascript / Typescript knowledge. /li /ulh3Salary and Benefits /h3pIn Austria, we have a legal obligation to disclose the minimum salary according to our collective agreement, which is gross EUR 3.843 per month for this position.
