Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Coastal Engineer (Technical Lead) to join our Madrid office. This is a senior, technical and hands-on role for a coastal engineering specialist with a minimum of 15 years of experience in coastal engineering. The selected candidate will act as the internal Technical Authority for coastal engineering projects across the GCC, North Africa, and international markets. The role is focused on technical excellence, coastal studies, numerical modelling, shoreline protection design, and technical bid support. No project management or commercial responsibilities are associated with this position. Key Responsibilities • Lead the technical design and review of coastal engineering projects including breakwaters, revetments, seawalls, erosion protection, and coastal resilience solutions., • Perform hydrodynamic, metocean, sediment transport, and coastal erosion studies., • Develop feasibility studies, detailed designs, technical reports, and engineering calculations., • Lead technical sections of bids and tender submissions., • Conduct numerical modelling using tools such as MIKE 21/3, Delft3D, SWAN, XBeach, or ADCIRC., • Ensure compliance with international standards including PIANC, CIRIA, EurOtop, BS 6349, and Eurocodes., • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to HMW’s technical development. Requirements • Master’s degree in Coastal Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or related discipline., • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in coastal engineering., • Strong expertise in Coastal hydrodynamics, Wave mechanics, Sediment transport and Coastal erosion, • Proven experience from feasibility through detailed design and construction support., • Strong experience in technical bids and tender preparation., • Excellent command of English (written and spoken) is mandatory., • GCC, Middle East, or North Africa project experience is highly valued., • Marine/offshore structures experience is considered an advantage., • Eligibility to work in Spain is required.
