We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant specialised in UK accounting regulations (UK GAAP / UK Law) to join our finance team based in our Madrid office. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on accounting experience, excellent technical accounting knowledge, exceptional analytical skills, advanced financial reporting capabilities, and expert-level Excel knowledge. This role requires daily interaction with international stakeholders, therefore bilingual or near-native English proficiency is essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, bookkeeping, financial reporting, analysis, and compliance under UK accounting standards, while working closely with international finance teams and senior management. Key Responsibilities • Perform daily accounting and bookkeeping activities., • Post and maintain accounting entries accurately within the accounting system., • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes., • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings., • Manage full accounting activities under UK GAAP and UK financial regulations., • Perform bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis., • Produce accurate financial reporting for senior management and international stakeholders., • Analyse financial information and large datasets to support business decisions., • Prepare management reports, KPIs, and analytical reporting packs., • Work extensively with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central., • Develop, automate, and optimise financial reports and advanced Excel models., • Support internal and external audits., • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls., • Collaborate closely with international finance teams and external advisors., • Identify opportunities for process improvements and reporting efficiencies. Requirements Essential • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field., • Proven hands-on accounting experience, including bookkeeping and posting accounting entries., • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP / UK accounting regulations., • Bilingual or very high-level English (C1/C2), both written and spoken., • Extremely advanced Excel skills, including:, • Pivot Tables, • Power Query, • Complex formulas, • Financial modelling, • VBA/Macros (highly desirable), • Strong experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central., • Highly analytical mindset with strong attention to detail., • Strong experience in financial reporting and KPI analysis., • Ability to manage and interpret large volumes of financial data., • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills., • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced international environment. Desirable • Previous experience working in multinational and international English-speaking environments., • Knowledge of international tax and compliance environments., • Experience improving, streamlining, or automating finance and accounting processes., • Knowledge of BI and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau., • Experience reporting directly to senior finance leadership and international stakeholders.
