A vacancy for a Space System Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Madrid (Getafe). The successful applicant will join the EOS Chief Engineering Department in Spain (TSESS). Tasks & Accountabilities • Act as satellite system engineer, leading the design, development and testing of satellite systems with a focus on the platform and its building blocks for a smallsat product line for Earth Observation., • Derive satellite system specifications from mission requirements, and lower‑level specifications for subsystems and equipment., • Identify market/business‑driven requirements and translate them into appropriate satellite system and subsystem requirements (e.g., connectivity, on‑board processing capabilities)., • Liaise with the MSC roadmaps and company product strategy to ensure alignment., • Drive the adaptation of existing satellite product lines to satisfy customer requirements while enabling mid‑scale industrialisation of the satellite concept., • Support the definition of the industrial policy for small satellites, identifying partners and subcontractors, leading co‑engineering activities with them, and supporting the selection and procurement process of satellite components., • Establish and maintain satellite‑level engineering budgets (mass, power, data volume, pointing, etc.)., • Define the verification and validation logic for the product line, including identification of verification methods for satellite system/subsystem specifications and verification close‑out processes during development., • Contribute to the execution of program milestones and reviews. In addition to this, you will play a key role in: • Deploying novel engineering methods, processes and tools (e.g., MBSE, multi‑disciplinary analyses, concurrent design engineering)., • Digitising design, development and manufacturing processes (e.g., DDMS) and ensuring smooth implementation across all disciplines., • Developing novel features into existing product lines or upgrading existing product lines to accommodate those features, as dictated by business requirements. Required Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field., • Proven experience (5+ years) required in:, • Systems engineering applied to satellites., • Systems engineering processes, methods and tools., • Mission analysis, constellation deployment strategies, multi‑orbit analyses (LEO, VLEO)., • ECSS Standards., • Space systems verification and validation., • Execution of program milestones and reviews., • Strong background in the industrialisation of satellite systems., • Deep knowledge of the processes and methods of space systems development, verification, validation and operation., • Experience in developing and executing functional validation tests on platform and spacecraft level., • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams., • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for satellite development and testing (e.g., ECSS, MIL‑STD, CCSDS)., • Languages:, • Spanish (required)., • English (required)., • French, Italian, German (a plus).
