LaCage is looking for a passionate, commercially minded and people-focused Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day leadership and operation of a busy hospitality venue.

Working closely with the senior management team, you will take ownership of shifts, lead the team and help deliver consistently excellent guest experiences across restaurant, bar and private event operations.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as Manager on Duty, overseeing service, opening and closing procedures, security, cash handling and operational checks.
  • Coordinate front-of-house, bar, kitchen and reservations teams to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Manage bookings, table allocations and guest flow using SevenRooms.
  • Lead, motivate, coach and develop the team through briefings, training and performance conversations.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, rota planning and effective labour deployment.
  • Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally, ensuring appropriate service recovery.
  • Support sales, profitability and operational targets by monitoring performance, labour costs, stock and key business KPIs.
  • Assist with ordering, inventory counts, supplier relationships, cash reconciliation and end-of-day reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, health and safety, fire safety, licensing and responsible alcohol service requirements.
  • Use Lightspeed, SevenRooms and other operational systems accurately.
  • Complete management reports, shift handovers, compliance records and maintenance follow-ups.

What we’re looking for

  • Previous management or supervisory experience in a busy restaurant, bar or premium hospitality environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and outstanding guest service.
  • Commercial awareness, including experience with sales, labour and stock control.
  • Confidence managing busy shifts and making effective operational decisions.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to take ownership.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and major sporting events.

Experience in high-volume or premium casual dining, private events, staff training, recruitment and performance management is desirable. Knowledge of Lightspeed, SevenRooms, UK licensing requirements and food safety legislation would also be beneficial. A Personal Licence, or willingness to obtain one, is advantageous.

Success in this role means building a confident and engaged team, delivering excellent guest experiences, maintaining high operational and compliance standards, and contributing to sales growth and the continued development of the business.

LaCage values personality, kindness, integrity, teamwork and ambition. This is an opportunity to grow with an expanding hospitality group and contribute to an exciting new venue.
