Legal Counsel – Employment Professional services company - Newcastle (centrally based) The Opportunity An ambitious and fast-growing consultancy is looking for a Legal Counsel (Employment) to join its Legal & Compliance team. This is a high-impact role offering the chance to work closely with senior stakeholders, influence business decisions, and shape employment practices in a dynamic, evolving environment. What You’ll Do • Provide clear, pragmatic advice on a wide range of UK employment law matters, including contracts, terminations, discrimination, and employee relations, • Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, settlement agreements, and restrictive covenants, • Partner closely with HR and leadership on disciplinary processes, grievances, and workplace investigations, • Support the development and implementation of employment policies and compliance frameworks, • Manage legal risk and ensure adherence to UK employment legislation, including data protection and equality laws, • Assist with employment disputes and litigation, liaising with external counsel where required, • Qualified lawyer with 5+ years’ experience specialising in UK employment law, • Strong technical expertise combined with a commercial, solution-focused mindset, • Proven experience advising on employee relations and handling complex employment matters, • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and build relationships across the business, • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, • Experience in financial services or other regulated sectors is advantageous, • Play a visible, hands-on role with real influence from day one, • Work on complex, business-critical issues in a fast-moving environment, • Collaborate with high-calibre, driven professionals, • Gain exposure to a broad range of legal and commercial challenges, • Strong opportunities for growth as the business scales
