You may have found the perfect fit! Teachsport are looking for experienced, skilled Play Workers to join our team in the Brockley/Deptford area. This is a part-time position, hours are for After School care during term-time 2.45-6pm, ranging from 3 to 5 days per week. There may be an opportunity to work extra hours during the school holidays at one of our activity camp venues. Teachsport are a small local employer, who are committed to their team of staff. All staff are employed properly, and we pay London Living Wage as a minimum. Job summary: Support the day-to-day activities of the club Provide quality play care within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures Line manager: Setting Manager Working relationships: Children attending the setting and their parents/carers Management and staff, including students and volunteers School staff and registering authorities Main duties include: · Support the planning, preparing and delivery of quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment. · Providing comprehensive care for the children including collecting them from their classrooms and delivering them safely to parents or carers. · Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment. · Preparing, providing & clearing up refreshments and snacks, ensuring that hygiene & health and safety standards are met. · Administering and recording first aid when necessary. · Consulting with children and involving them in planning activities. · Helping with club administration, where necessary. · Encouraging parental involvement in the club. · Facilitating good communication with all members of the organisation, parents, and schools. · Undertaking appropriate and relevant training. · Keeping the work environment healthy, safe and secure. · Working within the EYFS Ofsted framework and the club’s policies and procedures. Person specification Essential qualities · Experience of working with 4 to 11 year olds · Understanding the varied needs of children and their families · Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and practices · Enthusiasm, initiative and a positive attitude · Imaginative and contributes ideas · Good communication skills · Able to work as part of a co-operative team · Sound judgement and common sense · Sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the well-being of the children* · An Enhanced DBS check for working with children, within the past 3 years · Minimum Safeguarding Level 1 certificate, within past year . Minimum Level 2 Childcare/Play Work qualification · Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate, within past 3 years · Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 Certificate, within past 3 years · Prevent Training, within past year We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in our care and so all our team members require an enhanced DBS check.
