Facilities Assistant Location: HarrogateSalary: £27,354 per year + £3,485 on-call allowanceHours: Full-time, 35 hours/weekShifts: Alternating weekly • Early Shift: 6:00am–1:30pm, • Afternoon Shift: 12:00pm–7:30pmOn-Call: 1 in 6 weeks, with generous overtime ratesContract Type: Permanent, full year Reed is proud to be working with a prestigious educational institution that’s looking for a reliable, hands-on Facilities Assistant to help keep their site safe, secure, and in excellent condition. If you’re someone who loves variety, takes pride in practical work, and enjoys being part of a supportive team, this could be your perfect fit. You’ll be the go-to person for everything from unlocking buildings and fixing furniture to supporting school events and responding to out-of-hours emergencies. It’s a role that keeps you moving, thinking, and making a real difference every day. What You’ll Be Doing Security & Site Access • Lock and unlock buildings for daily use and special events, • Be part of a keyholder rota, responding to alarms and callouts, • Carry out regular security checks and liaise with police or contractors when needed Maintenance & Repairs • Tackle basic repairs: light bulbs, door handles, drains, furniture, and more, • Paint, decorate, and help with improvement projects like shelving and noticeboards, • Identify hazards and make safe — you’re the first line of defence against wear and tear Facilities & Utilities • Support heating, lighting, and water systems, know your way around meters and isolation points, • Keep records for energy use and report any issues General Duties • Deliver parcels and move furniture around the site, • Set up rooms for exams, meetings, and community events, • Help manage lost property, post, stationery, and even college vehicles, • Drive when needed (banking runs, minibus support, etc.), • Be ready to respond to emergencies like fire, flood, or break-ins What You’ll Bring Must-Haves: • Full, clean driving licence, • Basic numeracy and IT skills, • Willingness to work at height and take on physical tasks, • A flexible, reliable attitude and team spirit Nice-to-Haves: • D1 licence or higher, • Experience in caretaking, maintenance, or facilities roles, • Familiarity with H&S documentation and procedures Ready to Apply?
