Our client, an established M&E building services contractor based in Manchester, is looking for an Electrical Estimator to take ownership of electrical tenders from enquiry through to submission. The business is actively investing in its work winning and pre-construction capability, backed by a well-funded national technical services group with a clear growth strategy, so this is a function that is being built up rather than simply maintained. The estimating work here is unusually varied in how it arrives. You would price through competitive tender, framework and negotiated routes across a client base spanning commercial and corporate estates, retail, banking, education, healthcare, social housing, industrial and public sector. Alongside the project work sits a smaller planned and reactive maintenance arm, so there is scope to price service and PPM work as well as capital schemes. That is a broader estimating remit than a pure project contractor can offer, and it builds a more rounded commercial skillset. This is a permanent role in Manchester, £55,000 to £65,000 depending on experience, plus a full benefits package. Our client is an established M&E building services contractor based in Manchester, delivering mechanical and electrical engineering projects across a broad client base, with a smaller planned and reactive maintenance arm alongside. Their clients span commercial and corporate estates, retail, banking, education, healthcare, social housing, industrial and public sector, including a number of nationally recognised organisations and long-standing framework relationships. The business sits within a well-funded national technical services group with a clear growth strategy, which means a growing pipeline of opportunities to price and genuine resource behind the pre-construction function rather than an estimator working in isolation. Environmental performance is treated seriously rather than presentationally, with ISO 14001 compliance and a committed net zero target supported by a formal carbon reduction plan, which increasingly forms part of what gets assessed in public sector and framework submissions. • Taking ownership of electrical tenders from receipt of enquiry through to submission, • Carrying out take-offs and measurement from drawings and specifications to produce detailed, accurate cost build-ups, • Pricing through competitive tender, framework and negotiated routes across a varied client base, • Sourcing and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to produce competitive and properly substantiated pricing, • Identifying value engineering opportunities and contributing to buildability reviews during the tender process, • Supporting the pricing of planned and reactive maintenance work alongside capital projects, • Working closely with the work winning, commercial and operational teams to ensure submissions are both competitive and deliverable, • Reviewing contract terms and flagging commercial risks ahead of submission, • Supporting post-tender negotiations and handover to the delivery team on secured projects, • A solid electrical estimating background within an M&E or electrical contracting environment, • Confident leading electrical tenders independently, from enquiry through to submission, • Proficient in take-off and measurement, with strong attention to technical and commercial accuracy, • Experience of framework or negotiated tendering is advantageous, alongside competitive tender work, • Sound knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contract forms, • Comfortable working closely with commercial and operational colleagues rather than in isolation, • Relevant electrical qualifications, • Full UK driving licence, • £55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience, • Full company benefits package, • A pre-construction function being actively invested in and built up, rather than held steady, • Variety in both sector and tender route, including framework and negotiated work alongside competitive tender, • The backing of a well-funded national group with a clear growth strategy and a widening pipeline #J-18808-Ljbffr
