Chef Manager Independent School (South London) Salary: £30,000 £35,000 per year (depending on experience) Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Working Pattern: Monday to Friday Hours: 07:00 15:00 Contract: Term-time only (38 weeks per year term time + 3 additional weeks) About the Role We are looking for a passionate and experienced Chef Manager to lead the catering operation at a Kindergarten and Infant School within a well-established independent school in South London. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will deliver fresh, nutritious meals while managing a small kitchen team and contributing to menu development. Youll work closely with the Head Chef and Head of Catering as part of the wider senior catering team. Key Responsibilities Plan and prepare fresh, healthy, and appealing meals for pupils, staff, and visitors Manage day-to-day kitchen operations including breakfast club, lunch, snacks, and events Lead, train, and motivate a team of 5 kitchen staff Develop menus that meet nutritional guidelines and inspire healthy eating Manage allergens and dietary requirements safely and effectively Control stock, ordering, budgets, and supplier relationships Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards Support and deliver catering for school events and functions Maintain accurate records for stock, menus, and budgets Promote sustainability and reduce food waste What We Are Looking For NVQ Level 3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent) Experience in a similar Chef Manager or kitchen management role Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene qualification Strong leadership and team management skills Good knowledge of allergens and dietary requirements Organised, reliable, and able to work under pressure DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain) A genuine passion for quality food and high standards Benefits Competitive salary up to £35,000 per year No evenings or weekends Excellent worklife balance with term-time working Generous pension scheme SimplyHealth Cash Back Scheme (dental, physio, optical, prescriptions) 24/7 Online GP access Employee Assistance Programme (confidential support and counselling) Free family membership to the schools sports club Why Apply?
