Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Grimsby \n Location: Primary schools across the local area \n Contract Type: Flexible supply – full-time or part-time \n Pay Rate: £92–£115 per day \n About the Role \n We are looking for confident, experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to work with a variety of primary schools across Grimsby. This role is perfect for individuals who can take initiative, deliver pre-planned lessons, and offer strong support to pupils who may display challenging behaviour or require a structured, consistent approach. \n As an HLTA, you’ll work across different classes and year groups, lead whole-class teaching when needed, and provide support to pupils with a range of behavioural, learning, and social-emotional needs. We offer both day-to-day and longer-term placements to suit your availability. \n \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Classroom Leadership & Teaching\n, • Deliver teacher-prepared lessons to whole classes\n, • Lead small-group learning and targeted interventions\n, • Manage classroom routines and transitions effectively\n, • Provide clear structure, guidance, and consistency for learners\n\n \n Behaviour Support & Classroom Management \n \n\n • Support pupils displaying challenging behaviour in classroom or small-group settings\n, • Use positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategies\n, • Maintain firm, consistent boundaries aligned with school expectations\n, • Support pupils’ emotional regulation and wellbeing\n, • Work collaboratively with class teachers and pastoral teams to promote calm, safe learning environments\n\n \n Targeted Interventions & 1:1 Support \n \n\n • Support pupils with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs\n, • Deliver structured interventions under the direction of the SENCO or class teacher\n, • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to staff\n, • Encourage independence, confidence, and self-regulation skills\n\n \n Flexibility & Professionalism \n \n\n • Adapt quickly to new routines, teaching approaches, and behaviour systems\n, • Provide support across EYFS, KS1, and KS2 as required\n, • Be available for both pre-booked and same-day assignments\n, • Communicate effectively with school staff and your Reed consultant\n\n \n What You’ll Bring \n \n\n • Recent, relevant experience at HLTA level or equivalent\n, • Confidence in leading whole-class teaching\n, • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills\n, • A calm, consistent, proactive approach\n, • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork abilities\n, • A strong commitment to safeguarding\n, • HLTA status or proven equivalent experience (highly desirable)\n, • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)\n\n \n Why Work With Reed Education? \n \n\n • Flexible assignments to match your availability\n, • Competitive daily pay with weekly payroll\n, • Opportunities to broaden your experience in varied school settings\n, • Ongoing support from your dedicated Reed consultant with teaching experience\n, • Access to CPD including Safeguarding training\n
