Role: Senior Teacher – Head of Science Contract: Full time Location: W3 Chiswick Main Purpose • Lead the Science across the school, driving high standards of teaching and learning across all key stages., • Take a key role in school leadership as a senior teacher, contributing to the wider development of Eagle Park Independent School., • Teach Science classes, ensuring high-quality, inclusive education for all pupils., • Demonstrate expertise and provide support as an experienced SEN teacher, specialising in Autism and Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN). Key Responsibilities • Provide strategic leadership for the Science curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy., • Deliver outstanding classroom teaching, adapting approaches for pupils with SEN, specifically those with Autism and SLCN., • Work closely with other staff to support inclusive practice across the school., • Monitor pupil progress and implement effective interventions to maximise achievement., • Contribute to whole-school improvement planning and policy development., • Ensure effective communication with parents/carers and external agencies., • Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and promote the welfare of all pupils., • Model high expectations and positive relationships across the school community. Person Specification Qualifications and training • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), • Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to Science and/or SEN, • Additional qualifications in SEN (desirable) Experience • Successful experience teaching Science across the relevant key stages, • Experience as a subject or department lead (desirable), • Proven track record supporting pupils with Autism and SLCN, • Experience of working in an SEN or inclusive school environment Skills and knowledge • Strong knowledge of Science curriculum and assessment frameworks, • Excellent understanding of strategies for supporting pupils with Autism and SLCN, • Outstanding classroom practitioner, able to adapt teaching to meet diverse needs, • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff, • Excellent communication and organisational skills, • Knowledge of safeguarding requirements and procedures Personal qualities • High expectations for all pupils and a commitment to inclusive education, • Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with pupils, staff, and families, • Resilient, reflective, and solution-focused, • Commitment to the ethos and values of Eagle Park Independent School, • Ability to prioritise, work under pressure, and maintain confidentiality Safeguarding Eagle Park School committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
