Project Manager – Multi-Utilities\n\nReporting To:\n\nContracts Manager / Operations Director\n\nJob Summary\n\nOur client is seeking an experienced Multi-Utilities Project Manager to oversee the successful delivery of utility infrastructure projects across electricity, gas, water, fibre, and associated civil engineering works.\n\nThe successful candidate will manage projects from planning and mobilisation through to completion and handover, ensuring delivery is achieved safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with clients, network operators, subcontractors, local authorities, and internal teams, the Project Manager will be responsible for all aspects of project delivery, including health and safety, commercial performance, stakeholder management, resource planning, and operational excellence.\n\nPrincipal Responsibilities\n\nHealth, Safety & Compliance\n\nLead and promote a positive health, safety, and environmental culture across all projects.\n\t\nEnsure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company procedures.\n\t\nReview and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).\n\t\nConduct site audits, inspections, and safety reviews.\n\t\nEnsure all personnel have the appropriate competencies, certifications, and training.\n\t\nInvestigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, implementing corrective actions where required.\n\nProject Delivery\n\nManage the delivery of multi-utility infrastructure projects including electric, gas, water, fibre, and associated civils works.\n\t\nDevelop and maintain project programmes, resource plans, and delivery schedules.\n\t\nCoordinate internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.\n\t\nMonitor progress against programme and implement mitigation measures where necessary.\n\t\nEnsure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements.\n\nClient & Stakeholder Management\n\nAct as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders.\n\t\nMaintain regular communication regarding project progress, risks, and programme updates.\n\t\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with utility asset owners, network operators, local authorities, and developers.\n\t\nManage customer expectations and ensure a high level of service delivery.\n\t\nSupport project meetings, reporting requirements, and stakeholder engagement activities.\n\nCommercial & Contract Management\n\nMonitor project costs, budgets, and financial performance.\n\t\nSupport the management of variations, compensation events, and contractual changes.\n\t\nWork closely with commercial teams to maximise project profitability and efficiency.\n\t\nEnsure accurate forecasting, reporting, and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.\n\t\nAssist in the preparation and review of project valuations and final accounts.\n\nQuality & Operational Excellence\n\nEnsure all works are completed in accordance with specifications, design requirements, and industry standards.\n\t\nImplement quality assurance processes and maintain accurate project records.\n\t\nManage inspections, testing, commissioning, and project handovers.\n\t\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery activities.\n\t\nPromote a right-first-time approach and target defect-free completion.\n\nResource & Team Management\n\nLead, motivate, and support project teams to achieve business objectives.\n\t\nCoordinate labour, plant, materials, and subcontractor resources.\n\t\nManage performance and productivity across operational teams.\n\t\nSupport the development and mentoring of junior staff.\n\t\nFoster a collaborative and high-performing working environment.\n\nCandidate Requirements\n\nEssential\n\nProven experience managing utility infrastructure projects within the multi-utilities sector.\n\t\nStrong understanding of electricity, gas, water, fibre, and civil engineering works.\n\t\nExperience managing subcontractors, operational teams, and multiple stakeholders.\n\t\nKnowledge of utility industry regulations, standards, and safe systems of work.\n\t\nExperience managing project programmes, budgets, and commercial performance.\n\t\nExcellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.\n\t\nFull UK Driving Licence.\n\t\nSMSTS.\n\t\nCSCS Card.\n\t\nFirst Aid Qualification.\n\nDesirable\n\nHNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Utility Engineering, or a related discipline.\n\t\nNRSWA Supervisor Qualification.\n\t\nIOSH or NEBOSH certification.\n\t\nKnowledge of NEC contracts.\n\t\nExperience working with DNOs, IDNOs, ICPs, water authorities, gas network operators, and telecoms providers.\n\t\nPrince2, APM, or equivalent project management qualification.\n\nPersonal Attributes\n\nStrong leadership and decision-making capability.\n\t\nCommercially aware with excellent problem-solving skills.\n\t\nHighly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.\n\t\nProactive,
