Good companionship is very important, so the support worker should be friendly, patient, approachable, and genuinely interested in spending meaningful time with the client.Responsibilities may include: • Providing personal care respectfully and sensitively, including support with washing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and maintaining good personal hygiene., • Offering companionship, conversation, reassurance, and emotional support., • Encouraging and motivating the client to remain as independent, active, and involved in daily life as possible., • Supporting the client with daily routines, household tasks, meal preparation, shopping, and other practical activities where required., • Accompanying the client to appointments, social activities, outings, or community activities., • Encouraging hobbies, interests, exercise, social interaction, and activities that support the client’s physical and emotional wellbeing., • Supporting mobility and helping the client move around safely where necessary., • Providing medication support or reminders in accordance with the agreed care plan and relevant procedures., • Observing any changes in the client’s wellbeing and communicating concerns appropriately., • Maintaining the client’s dignity, privacy, choices, preferences, and confidentiality at all times., • Creating a calm, safe, positive, and enjoyable environment.
