Job Title: Gas Main Layer/ Fitter/ Installation Engineer/ Pipeline Layer/ Gas Engineer/ Gas Network Operative/ Pipeline Engineer. Location: We are looking for Gas Main Layer Engineers who want to relocate to Guernsey or Jersey from the UK Relocation Required : There is a relocation package available – to be discussed. Salary : £45 000 - £50 000 + Overtime and Standby rates The Package • Competitive market-rate salary + performance bonus ( The salary can vary based on experience., • Monthly on-call payment & overtime eligibility, • 25 days holiday + bank holidays, • Contributory pension (up to 7.5% matched), • Private healthcare (BUPA), • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for you & your family, • Company-provided uniform, phone & equipment We’re looking for an experienced Multi skilled Gas Main Layer with experience in Escape, Locate & Repair (ELR to join a growing utilities team. This is a full-time, permanent role offering excellent career development and benefits. The Role Working as part of a skilled team, you’ll carry out a wide range of duties on the gas distribution network, including: • Mains replacement, diversion, and new service installations, • Gas Main laying, • ELR leak detection, surveys, and repairs using industry-approved methods, • Service disconnections, reinstatement, and camera surveying, • Routine and non-routine maintenance on mains and services up to 355mm, • Streetworks supervision – including signing, lighting and guarding, reinstatement permits, and compliance paperwork, • Operating machinery such as 360 dumpers, diggers, and lifting equipment to support utilities works, • Supporting the response to Public Reported Emergencies (PREs) and liaising with duty personnel, • On-site coordination with contractors, the public, and external agencies, • Participation in a 1-in-4 emergency call-out rota What We’re Looking For • NCO (Gas) – Mains Layer & Service Layer (up to 355mm), • NCO (Gas) – Escape, Locate & Repair (ELR) - ELR is not mandatory experience to have, • Utility SHEA Gas (EUSR valid), • Experience in streetworks supervision, utilities operations, leak detection, and reinstatement, • Knowledge of SCO procedures, excavation safety, and reinstatement standards, • Skilled in safe control of operations, customer interaction, and site planning, • Competent in heavy plant and machinery operations (360 dumper, lifts, excavation equipment), • Full clean driving licence, • Positive attitude, great communication skills & a strong team player, • Availability for the emergency duty rota (1 week in 4) Desirable but not essential: HGV licence, SCO permits, IGEM technical standards knowledge, PASMA scaffolding experience, and excavation safety training.
